The Murkin dream has always been just that…a dream.

One of the many things that is criminal is that there are far too many in this country who are even denied the opportunity to effectively work their ass off to achieve upward mobility. Prof. Reich has so much of it very right, as is so often the case.

One can pull themselves up by their bootstraps. So long as you have boots. Poverty of mind equates to no boots. Literacy, thinking and speaking skills, woven together make up the straps. Then you need mental, emotional and physical health, for the strength to pull hard enough to lift each boot and the person wearing them.

It’s a mirage. Yes we have boots but they have removed the straps.

Nothing new here.
