The NSA Was Hacked, Snowden Documents Confirm

Sam Biddle, The Intercept

On Monday, a hacking group calling itself the “ShadowBrokers” announced an auction for what it claimed were “cyber weapons” made by the NSA. Based on never-before-published documents provided by the whistleblower Edward Snowden, The Intercept can confirm that the arsenal contains authentic NSA software, part of a powerful constellation of tools used to covertly infect computers worldwide.

We should spread these numbers around more.....

#6

That's so true.... guess they were still like in the ol' days when .... if some info was vulnerable...they could just "terminate" the leaks point... (agent).... but now... it seems... the leaks are everywhere... can't put your finger in that damn....

"...ordinary criminals will use them against corporate targets."

Dear Ordinary Criminals,
Here is my short list:

Goldman Sachs
Exxon Mobil
Monsanto
Raytheon
Citigroup

Have a good time

Exactly. After the Snowden affair a light bulb went on in my head (and I don't know much about this stuff like you Mark) and I made a comment on CD that said if they have all this capability the NSA should or could know where all the drug money is, where all the sex slave traffickers are, where the child porn producers are, etc.
But if I think that a lot of money is spread around by the aforementioned extraordinary criminals I'm just a conspiracy nut.

And even more frightening, corporations will use these tools:
Corporations Spy on Nonprofits With Impunity http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ralph-nader/corporations-spy-on-nonpr_b_5701894.html

And this: Snowden Reveals U.S. Government Plans to Spy for Corporations, Despite Telling the Public Otherwise http://anonhq.com/snowden-reveals-u-s-government-plans-spy-corporations-despite-telling-public-otherwise/

Because of the technical jargon, the full article is hard for neophytes to the workings of Internet technology (like me) to understand, but it's worth struggling through to get the full picture. The more that is revealed about the US surveillance state, the more relevant Anonymous becomes. This all makes me long for the good ole days of Watergate, words I thought I would never utter.

Now that the shoe is on the other foot, don't you wonder how the NSA feels about being spied on?

If the NSA is not longer secure, and it doesn't seem to be, it will be forced to blow itself up.

What will take its place is what we need to keep an eye out for.

#18

I care two craps about the corps. Worst case scenario, we find out they own child slaves in a new place. Or better yet, we find out our info they hold is hacked, sold, or leaked, which evryone knows already. Hackers arent after you and I anymore, but we are the victims. Funny how that works.

#20

I'm not worried about Russia. I'm more worried about the hackers in Nigeria....

#21

Would like to know which agency has the authority to shut down the NSA. I'll bet it doesn't exist.

#24

Really?? That's what's being taught in school where yiou are from? What kind of people are you? Stop lying and spreading false information. With the level of education people get these days they will actually believe you. But that's the whole point isn't it?

I guess the occupation of Eastern Europe by the Soviet Union never happened? The Berlin wall never existed, neither did the invasion of Czechoslovakia or the suppression of the Budapest uprising. The labor camps and deportation of millions in the 50s never happened. I don't wish that on anyone but some of you people really deserve to live in world like that, get a dose of reality. You know, wake up at 0500, go stand in line to get your food ration for the day then go to work. Repeat the next day. And that's if you keep your mouth shut and are good little drone.

#25

Probably. You could also physically blow up the data center but i am pretty sure data is being backed up in several off site places. I wouldn't worry tho. None of us are important enough to be on their radar. There are few with delusions of grandeur that think otherwise but they are mistaken.

#26

I'm pretty sure that kind of data will not be allowed in a court of law, in the US anyway. Most of the time judges will dismiss and illegally obtained information. You know, that pesky 4th amendment that everybody is complaining about.

Then again, do we actually know that the info upon which some Bankster Mafia Kingpins were investigated did not come from illegal monitoring? I sure don't. Does anyone?

#27

Please provide your numbers.

Hungarian uprising of peoples against Communist rule. 3000 fighting the Communists killed.
Number of deaths in The Prague spring . Estimated at 72.

Greek uprising against Capitalist rule.40 thousand fighting the Capitalists killed. The Greeks backed by the British and US forces.

Communists fighting against US Intervention in Vietnam and imposition of a puppet state some 4 million killed.

You were saying?

#28

You westerners are soooo gullible. It's kinda really sweet that you believe in the goodness of your enemy, but trust me: The Soviet communist regime was one murderous gang of thugs. Like i said, had you lived there you would be singing a different tune.

feel free to read the "Black book of communism" if you don't have someone who actually lived the that can enlighten you.

#29

Your rebuttal is devoid of meaning. The fact remains that the USA has been responsible for the deaths of more people since the end of WW2 then have the "communists". I know it does not suit your worldview but it true.

You have a problem in that you seem to believe that if a European killed over and Asian it somehow "worse".

From Greece to Latin America. From South East Asia to Africa. from thje Middle East to Indonesia the USA has been hard at work slauhtering tens of millions of people.

Russia did not carpet bomb Laos or Cambodia. Russia did not support Siharto in Indonesia. They did not invade Iraq or bomb Vietnam. They did not sponsor coups in Chile or in Haiti or in Greece. That was all the USA.

I would also point out that the Countries of Rumania and Hungary both attacked the USSR in WW2. They joined with the Nazis and helped to slaughter some 25 million Russians. As they were doing that their respective Governments at home were sending Jews to death camps. This was ended when those Communists occupied those Countries. Whatver Jews and Gypsies and persons the nazis considered lessor races owe thier lives to those Communists.

Hitler also desired to eliminate the Poles and other Slavic races entirely after using them as slaves, thier lands to be occupied by the master race. The Nazi party and its rise to power was financed by British and US Investors including such people as Prescott Bush.

My bet is that the hackers of the NSA hackers were Chinese. Why not? The Chinese gov't sponsors hacking groups as long as they hack in the right places. And the Chinese are very smart.

#32

I can't wait to see the new Oliver Stone movie, Snowden

#34

Ok. I guess your hatred for the United States makes you blind to such things. You were lucky to have been born on the right side of the wall. Probably never experienced oppression, hunger, cold so i can see how some things might seem incomprehensible. sometimes I myself have trouble comprehending how we could let things go so far, so bad for so long.
