The Organization of American States Shouldn’t Be Run by Regime Change Enthusiasts

Laura Carlsen

With a Venezuelan opposition leader declaring himself the country’s president and the Trump administration appearing to back a coup, Venezuela is lurching toward a new phase of crisis. And that crisis could be worsened by hardline leadership at the Organization of American States (OAS), the world’s oldest and most influential regional organization.

It is sickening how the interests of US businesses drive sanctions which impede the social functioning of states like Venezuela. The ensuing claims that socialism is the root of the people’s woes metastasize into calls for regime change. It’s an old formula and has been used “successfully” all too often. Sold to the largely naive US citizenry as humanitarian intervention, expunged from all historical narratives, and kept ever at the ready, this mechanism is one of the most fundamental keys to the US’ imperial methodology. Unless the US citizenry awakens and repudiates this formula it will be used again and again with backing of the plutocratic class through internal mechanisms allowed by the likes of Citizens United. We need Progress if ever Peace is to take root on this Planet.

The widespread hatred that use to be hidden, is now front and center under Trump.

Trump is not telling lies when he says, “the terrorists are coming…”

He’s doing everything in his power to insure they do.

The primary goal of the NSA and the rest of the ‘security state’ in collecting all data on all people is not to protect us from terrorists, but to be able to control world political events through blackmail and extortion. There is ample proof of this, and I view the OAS and the Lima group as operating under these pressures.

Sooner or later these countries are going to get their act together, when they do we’re dead, and I can’t blame them.
