The Sound of Silence: In the Age of Covid, Where Have All the Heroes Gone?

Medical websites tell us that the vaccinated can still catch and spread covid. They tell us that the vaccine mostly helps one avoid dying if they contract it. The efficacy of the vaccines is diminishing as we speak. So…What are we talking about here? I need guidance to see the rational behind demanding that everyone must “do as I say.” It has become such a divisive question–hugely unproductive in light of what we know. I realize that asking any question about vaccines is currently upsetting to many, and completely un American. I assure you, I am an American. I was only called an “un” when I refused the draft and became a 1-O during Vietnam. Which itself was an America wrecking, individual choice that guaranteed the imminent death of us all. So if you are verbally armed, save your bullets for student protesters at the next Kent State. Just instruct me.

No one has ever claimed that the vaccines were 100% effective, only that the significant protection they provide is well worth having. So what we’re talking about is giving people the highest level of protection possible.

Just what, and-or who should be the heroes here? The person who takes out an anti-vaxer? Perhaps the store owners who post mask mandates for customers because the un-vaccinated are taking advantage of the rest of us by not wearing one, or not letting us know if they indeed are vaccinated?
If my community gets hassled by anti-vaxers I’ll start carrying a bat with me.

Fine commentary, Tony.

It bewilders me that there continues to be this conversation about the need for COVID vaccinations. In January-February, I jumped at the chance to obtain 2 doses, and family members also hurried to obtain their vaccinations as soon as they could.

It’s one thing to be ignorant, yet quite another to be stubbornly and willfully ignorant about placing others’ lives in danger, as the unvaccinated are now doing.
