We must continue this struggle, pressuring our members of Congress to support the human and civil rights of ALL people, including Palestinians.

We must insist that valid criticism of Zionist, apartheid Israel is NOT anti-Semitism. It is support for human and civil rights. If they opposed racist South African apartheid, they must oppose Israeli apartheid and continuing U.S. financial support for the racist regime in Israel.

What’s now Israel was part of the Ottoman empire until after WWi, when French & British mandates drew national boundaries. In 1947, Israel’s boundaries were determined by a partition resolution of the UN. Boundaries for many of the Arab states were also drawn (& their rulers installed by the Western Powers) at that time…
Israel has been under attack since its inception, and has conquered and returned several different areas over the years. This is not to say Israel is blameless–their treatment of Palestinians is mostly terrible, but it is to say that it is hard to negotiate with people who want to annihilate your country and all your relatives.
Israel has been a source of technology, including weapons technology but also medical technology, for the US, and has shared other useful knowledge and information.
Many of the Palestinians are also actually Jordanian, but Jordan has refused to admit them or to help Israel with their support.
There needs to be a solution that gives Israel safer boundaries and enough room for its population, while it gives Palestinians their own country and government. Israel is the only country that’s constantly excoriated in the media & censured at the UN for doing things other countries, including Syria, China, various Arab and other countries attacking their own minorities occasionally are mentioned in the news, but that’s usually it. With Israel we have boycotts, congressional debates, demands for sanctions, and more.
Yes, there needs to be a peace process and a settlement, but it needs to be fair to both sides, and also to include enough safeguards so that the only “Jewish” country on earth can survive in peace.

Using UN resolutions to defend your position while denying those that do not is illogical. It is long past due for there to peace in the region. “When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace” - JH.
“Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will. Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them, and these will continue till they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress.” - FD It would seem we have come to an end of that endurance.
Israel is not a “Jewish” country, it is a country with a lot of Jews.

I have been associated with various peace and social justice organizations for years, primarily Veterans For Peace and Code Pink. I am so happy to see our current revolutionary moment. I did not think I would ever live long enough to actually watch this happen. Thank you all!
