The United States' Assassination of Iranian Military Leader Violates International Law

The government of the United States is above its own constitutional law. International law has no chance of bringing these criminals to justice.

Trump Laughs hysterically when someone tells him that he cannot do something because it is a Violation of International Law.

In case you have not noticed Mr. Comar, Trump does not give a damn about the Law.

Laws are not applicable to this President, he even said that Article 2 of the Constitution allows him to do whatever he wants.

The Law does not apply to King Donny.

Mr. Comar is mis-citing international law concerning starting a war of aggression. Iran started its war against the United States back in 1979 and the Islamic republic’s proxy militias have killed several hundred of our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Soleimani was Iran’s commanding officer of these militias. Indeed, the leader of the proxy militia which rocketed our base and attacked our embassy was killed in the same strike. As such, Soleimani was an enemy combatant and a lawful target in self defense. See, for example, the British SOE sending Czeck operatives to kill SS commander Reinhard Heydrich, the US Navy killing Admiral Yamamoto and Seal Team 6 killing OBL.

Next, Trump was well within his Article II powers to employ the military in self defense. The Declaration Clause requires the POTUS to obtain the permission of Congress to start a war. The POTUS is under no such obligation before he can defend this nation against a war started by another.

But the ICC has proven to be spineless, hasn’t it? If so, then even bringing up the topic of international law is laughable–but not at all funny. Not at all.

Whoa. This is so wrong-headed and a-historical I have no idea where to begin. So I won’t bother to begin, just as I wouldn’t bother debating the death of god with an evangelical.

Why go back only as far as 1979? The CIA overthrew the elected government of Iran in 1953, re-installed the brutal Shah, supported him for the next 25 years, helped create his vicious secret police the SAVAK, and helped arm Saddam Hussein so Iraq could wage war on Iran from 1980 to 1988.

Iranian students seized the U.S. embassy in Tehran because President Carter had offered asylum and medical care to the hated Shah after the Islamic Revolution ended his murderous, U.S.-supported dictatorship.

During the Iran-Iraq war, in which more than one million people were killed, many of them Iranians killed by U.S.-supplied weapons, the guided missile cruiser U.S.S. Vincennes shot down an Iranian airliner in broad daylight over Iranian airspace, murdering 290 innocent Iranians, after which President George H.W. Bush refused to apologize.

“The ICC uses a definition of aggression… bombing a state, blockading its ports and coasts, or sending irregular/partisan/paramilitary forces to accomplish the same.” Suleimani was on a trip meeting and coordinating with irregular forces who were armed and funded by Iran and with whom he was, and has been for twenty years, coordinating military attacks against the US, Iraq, Israel and Saudi Arabia,
Suleimani has also been under a United Nations International Travel Ban since 2007, which Russia or China could have vetoed. If he complied with the travel ban he would be alive right now.

“…Grand-scale paratrooping of thousands of forces into enemy territory or tank-to-tank warfare have been replaced by single-shot missions…”

It is wise to remember that a “single-shot mission” triggered world war one. https://www.ghostsofhistory.wordpress.com/
