WASHINGTON - On Tuesday, President Obama addressed the Dakota Access pipeline, saying his Administration is considering ways to reroute it. He also stated that they would let the process “play out for several more weeks” to determine whether the pipeline could be constructed in a way that is “properly attentive to the traditions of the First Americans.”
I'd missed the President's statement, and agree that it's too little. NOW he's stepped into it and must step up. Sacred lands have already been destroyed, and more will be if the process "play[s] out for several more weeks."
What on earth could be a reason for"letting this play out" when there is no need for violence. Fossil fuel companies and banks losing profits? Who cares? People's lives are at stake.
