This Holiday Season, Workers in Poultry Plants Need a Union

Alyssa Peterson, Eliza Schultz

While some Americans will pay upwards of $12 a pound for a heritage breed bird this Christmas, Minnesota workers who toil year-round in poultry plants are struggling to survive.

I have no compassion for these workers. Let them find work that does not require killing animals. Let their employer go out of business.

Package work sucks..done it when I was younger. Poultry farmers here in the south have an extremely hard time making a living, the major poultry producers have managed to dump the most risk onto the small farmers while holding their profits to a starvation wage, for a seven day work week. Closest thing to serfdom I have ever seen, even wrote a paper on it back in the 90's..
