"Our democracy is at stake. Trump is trying to steal an election,

Not trying, will steal it one way or another, Trump already has an army of thugs that he calls " VOTER SECURITY MARSHALS" to make sure he can steal it.

Asked how far she thinks her uncle would be willing to go to remain in the White House, Mary Trump replied, “Farther than you can possibly imagine.”

She laid out her reasoning: *The president knows what he faces if he becomes a private citizen again, including potentially being prosecuted for financial crimes and indicted on felony charges of obstruction of justice.
And he’s got people close to him who are personally benefiting from his behavior who may face exposure if he is no longer protected by being in office.

“We need to be clear about what we’re potentially facing here,” she added.

Now hold on a minute. In the run up to November 2016, the d-party was thrilled when Trump said outrageous things and ran roughshod over his opponents in the r-party primaries: Low Energy Jeb, Lil’ Marco, Lyin’ Ted – Trump kicked all the frontrunner’s asses.

As that unfolded, the d-party made a blunder of epic proportions. They went so far as to promote Trump – the loose cannon who they felt would be the easiest opponent for Hillary to defeat. We all remember the “pied piper” strategy. A complete disaster.

Well, now the d-party continues to reap what they sowed. The media still cling to and dutifully report Trump’s every sexy utterance, and now the d-party is upset that he’s once again dominating the airwaves. And the debates – where we’ll hear Trump calling Biden Slow Joe, Sleepy Joe, and some other as-yet-to-be-unveiled nickname – haven’t even happened yet. Biden, who can barely string together a few coherent sentences.

Un-fucking-believable.

Not exactly surprising. Consider the stories news outlets ignore or downplay: rolling back protections in the EPA, fast tracking logging in Alaska, abandoning the Endangered Species Act, the rejection of US policies worldwide, the impact of the economic collapse on working people, the salvation of investors in the face of that collapse, and so on. Ignoring Trump’s hint that he is ready to upset (the appearance of) US democracy only fits the media’s pattern of sweeping stories under the rug that will either rile a corporate sponsor or else fail to interest the airheads that believe they are actually learning what is going on by watching (or reading) the “news.”

Money.

Pretty sure actual journalists (a breed growing smaller by the week) would be more than willing to sound the alarm here. I suspect the celebration of violence against journalists by Drumpf is something most have to shoulder daily.

But the editorial boards, those venal bastards, always protect their own. They want blood and conflict, but not resolution. Sounding the alarm on this one just isn’t as financially lucrative as directing attention to other news.

Conflating the 1st Amendment with Citizens United consequences is damning us all.

This is how you normalize a madman.
( CNN and MSNBC did a much better job covering the transfer-of-power story.)"

Froomkin [explained] how the dynamics in corporate newsrooms have led to complacency among journalists tasked with reporting on Trump’s presidency:

One overarching problem is that our major newsrooms have simply gotten so corporate and even-keeled that our top editors value unflappability as a signal virtue. (OK, I admit I take this one a little personally, being a flappable person. A top Washington Post editor once called me “hysterical.”) Flappable people don’t rise through the ranks. Corporate people do.

Journalism to me is about crusading for the truth. But the notion that a serious, major news organization would pursue a crusade on behalf of its community is considered hippy shit by the people in charge these days. So is consistently standing up to a lawless con man. They’ve gotten used to printing lies. They barely squawk when Trump calls them the “enemy of the people.” They have their [algorithms], and they won’t give them up no matter what. They just continue to "do the work."

So yeah, their news souls are dead. There, I said it.

Lawmakers and progressive advocates the dangerous threat to democracy uttered by the commander-in-chief—and the corporate media for treating it like any other day in Trump’s scandal-laden presidency.

"Great (not) to watch journalists reporting Trump’s latest direct attacks on the republic as if it’s all just a regular press conference," longtime journalist Dan Gillmor [tweeted] Wednesday. "Historians will see Big Journalism’s business as usual in this emergency as one of the proximate causes of the American republic’s death."

I’d just add to this that it isn’t only accusing them of being the “enemy” –
Trump is actually celebrating the physical assault of journalists covering protests –
encouraging those attacks on journalists … pretty much as their due for negative
reports on the administration – i.e., for telling the truth about what he’s doing!

Dear Press,

Mary Trump the other day said we have to start calling drumpf out for the liar he is EVERY TIME he lies. She is exactly right. Calling out his lies will disarm him. Let him lie and he’ll keep on lying. And she said to call him donald, cause that will drive him nuts.
Good start don’t you think?

And, while press people has begun catching on that this entire ‘rigged election’ donald is spouting about is because he knows if he loses that he’s going to jail. So, why not ask him?
donald, just how terrified are you of going to prison if you lose the election? And, is that the real reason you’re refusing to step down if you lose in November?
What do you have to lose by asking!!! Show this asshole a little disrespect.

In other words, STOP BEATING AROUND THE BUSH, and let’s get to the heart of the question. STOP BEING A BUNCH OF WUSSIES!!! HE’S A PATHOLOGICAL LYING NARCISSISTIC PSYCHOPATH, A PSYCHOPATH, PLAYING THE PRESS AS A GAME SHOW FOR THE IGNORANT PLAIN FOLKS OF THE LAND. Wake the fuck up.

The Constitution granted you the power to keep government in check, honest. Use it!

Friday rant.

For the most part that just means one Multi-Nazional Korporation selling out to another Multi-Nazional Korporation. At least the hypocrites at MSNBC finally gave Bernie more than 30 seconds last night — only 4½ years too late.  If he’d gotten half the free air time that Hideous Hilliary got – or one tenth what they gave to Tweetle-Dumb – he’d have won the 2016 DimWitRats’ Primary and we wouldn’t be stuck with the traitorous criminals who’re doing their damnedest
to destroy what’s left of our democracy today.

This week’s appearance of Sanders on the Rachel Maddow Show was a positive step, although it is indeed late in coming.

Sanders was unequivocal as usual, saying “this is not an election between Biden and Trump, it is an election between democracy and Trump”.

Tweetle-Dumb is becoming more and more deranged with every passing hour, so why not push him over the edge
by reminding him – every day – what happened to Mussolini and Khadafi and Hussein.  And remind Barr-Barr what happened to Rasputin . . .

I don’t think you understand how dangerous what’s coming is going to be.

“if it bleeds, it ledes,” and Trump is a bloody massacre. The spectacle he creates is practically a sexual enticement to the media. He knows that.

The people here that agree with you (and I am one) represent a very small subset of the TV-watching public, on both sides.

Again, this started with Reagan. How many remember his invasion of the tiny island of Granada–(a diversionary tactic in its own right)–where he wouldn’t allow journalists to cover the “war”, but insisted that the press be “embedded” within the troops for their “own safety”, thus controlling the narrative? Uh-huh. I have heard mice make more noise than was heard then by even the press itself! Hardly a peep anywhere. Not even from the Democrats who, for reasons I will never fathom, were held enthrall by the “Great Communicator”. The vortex began. Not once during his campaign and even during his first two years did the press ever call Trumpsky or Any Rethuglican out for lying. They would manage a throat -clearing noise and claim they were “mistaken” in their information. They weren’t mistaken; they Were fucking Lying! Trumpsky and his thrall were lying every single day they could. The Rethugs did so all through the Obama years and no one in the press said so; called them out and held them responsible. And that includes MSNBC and CNN. Identifying the lying is just now “a thing”. But even still no one is calling out the GOP for their lies. And even yet, they played the game of freezing Sanders out because he was a “socialist”. I’m sure they they’re going to wish otherwise soon.
I wish this were a dead horse, because it isn’t, but Reagan began charming the press with his…I really don’t know what…his celebrity perhaps? who allowed him to lie and misdirect all the time. Perhaps because easing merger laws and SEC restrictions was too good pass up? Will it, unfortunately, have to come down to the economy really falling into the cesspool for everyone to wake up and realize they’ve been had; because, apparently, only money matters?

If you read up on Operation Mockingbird (incidentally no end date has ever been made public), it becomes abundantly clear what has happened to America’s “journalists”.
