Change happens in improbable ways: Who knew Teddy Grahams could embody a struggle for basic human rights? If you haven't heard: Nabisco's Honey Maid ran a nice ad featuring diverse graham-cracker-eating families - a gay couple, an interracial couple, a tattooed punk father - with the tag line, "Everyday wholesome snacks for every wholesome family." Cue right-wing heads exploding. Then One Million Moms (47, actually) and some decency brigade declared a boycott, proclaiming the ad is an attempt by Satan to push an evil agenda upon America AND "change the meaning of wholesome," which, yeah, is kinda the point. So then Honey Maid thanked everyone for their hate mail, and did something really cool with it. See love speak to hate.
