And away we go…
There’s Really No Need to Compromise, Joe
After whittling down the originally promised $2,000 checks to $1,400, Joe Biden is now saying he’s open to negotiating on the $1,400.

Furthermore, it should be annually adjusted in accordance with any upward adjustments to congressional pay (benefits packages included), at a minimum!
So, it turns out McConnell was really just playing a very weak bluff on Committee assignments and the filibuster. When Schumer called his bluff, he really had nowhere to go. And, McConnell’s been doing this for centuries, so he certainly knew that from the beginning.
But, in many ways, it was a win for McConnell. Because when he played is weak bluff, he got to see how many of the Democrats were so weak-kneed as to be willing to quickly concede the filibuster … even to such an obviously weak bluff.
McConnell already has the whole Democrat Appeasement Caucus dancing to his tune.
Well congress just voted to double the Healthcare budget for themselves/
Does that count?
Mr. “I’ll Tell You The Truth” says …
Before the GA Senate primary, “a vote for the Democrats is a vote for a $2k relief check.”
After the Democrats win the Senate, “we’ll give you a $1400 check.”
Opps, there went 30% off the top.
Now, “well, that $1400 was just a suggestion, its not a firm demand. Not like the money for corporations, that’s a must have.”
Congress must of course have the best in Socialist Health Care for themselves.
“Time for Talk Is Over.”
Bernie says we must have a $15 min wage … four freakin years from now.
Gee, I’m glad he’s not willing to go slow on this.
Fifteen dollars an hour spread out over four years. The drive for fifteen has been ongoing for another four years already. Isn’t it time to think about twenty?
And a $20,000 payment for all because we all put up with last year’s insanity of government. That’s right add a zero onto what all of us citizens deserve. $20 an hour minimum wage! Might as well shoot for the moon. “To the moon Alice” Peace
“In the United States of America a job must lift workers out of poverty, not keep them in it.”
Economic oppression is a political tactic. And republicans along with Wall Street bank on it.
Good idea. Pro democracy sounds so much better than the negativity pronounced elsewhere here.
If we are talking about a forty hour week twenty sounds about right.
This has got to be tied into health care costs at some point in this long discussion.
Family of five has the working parent paying about $200 per week for 80/20 group insurance with $5,000 annual deductible. So, $15,000 responsibility from $30,000 earned.
add for rent, utilities, groceries, clothing, car and insurances.
recipe is not working here.
No it isn’t working for many Americans.
One in particular I just saw on TV. A 47 year old mom of eight children died of covid-19.
Was she one of a two income family? That would be a horrid situation. What if she were a single mom? I can’t imagine the grief and turmoil.
From this family’s disaster has to come some help. Social security orphans allowance only goes to three childrens. The other six are not provided for. I and you, both hope dad is home to keep the family united. Otherwise, the state dept of child services may step in and split the childrens into different houses. Perhaps the state financial assistance to the foster parents is substantial for the children.
We probably do have another 2 years of this cordova virus disease laying waste around the world. Then, we have the chronic fatigue following recovery for many. polio had life long recurances also
It’s already time for $20/hour. Without a COLA attached to any minimum wage bill, it’s just kicking the can down the road.
As others above have pointed out $15 in 4 years is way behind the curve, and for those who believe $20 is “shooting for the moon”, or this would throw the economy out of wack with lay-offs, check out the link below. McDonalds workers in Denmark make $20+ per hour, and receive 5 weeks of paid time off per year. So how much does a Big Mac cost in Denmark, $5.60, compared to $4.80 in the US, a 14% difference. As long as corporations have demand for their products, they will employ workers, and I guarantee McDonalds is making profits hand over fist in Denmark. Corporations aren’t job creators, consumers are. Everyone does better, when everyone is doing better (or something like that).
