To Corner Trump on Finances, Clinton Releases Tax Returns

Jon Queally, staff writer

As her billionaire rival Donald Trump has steadfastly refused to release his own, multi-millionaire Hillary Clinton sought to highlight her opponent's financial obfuscation on Friday by making her own family's 2015 tax returns public.

I doubt that the public will ever find out what Trump is hiding in his taxes. It must be far more potentially damaging than the heat he is taking for not releasing his taxes.

#6

All smoke and mirrors till she releases those speech transcripts. Their lack of self awareness is stunning. Did they not think that everyone's first thought would be "what about the speech transcripts"?

While we fight among ourselves over which oligarchy candidate is better or worse. All according to plan.

Direct democracy

Never mind the personal tax returns, release the Clinton Foundation tax returns which show who donated to you and how much.

There wouldn't be anything in the Clinton speeches that would be all that interesting/dmaging. Remember that the speeches were given to crowds of hundreds of people and included lots of people that don't particularly like her. You should worry more about what is said to the groups of one or two.

The main reason she doesn't release the transcripts (not sure if they even exist) is probably because it would make it more difficult for her to charge $250,000 for the next one.

so where are those speeches?

#12

Really do not care about how much of her "taxable income" is from Goldman Sachs. More interested in what she said to "earn" such a gaudy amount for thirty minutes of ego stroking. My guess is not much was said. This is only a process of money laundering.

There is limited value in evaluating the personal income tax returns of folks who have foundations and own businesses like the Clintons do. Although you may have been able to connect the dots prior to bipartisan 1986 tax reform, it became a big shell game for the 1% after after that most regressive tax reform in history.

Trump is probably most afraid that voters will figure out that although his reality show and naming/branding income is solid, his brick and mortar and cyber businesses have mostly flopped, thereby vaporizing his claims to be such a smart businessman.

96% of Clinton's 2015 "charitable contributions" went to Clinton Family Foundation

Moments ago, when we showed the newly released Clinton 2015 tax return, we posted a rhetorical question: "how much of the Clinton charity donations went to the Clinton Foundation? Taking a deduction for contributing to the employer of your daughter and expense payer of your husband is awesome."

We now know the answer: as page 29 of the tax return reveals, of the $1,042,000 in charitable cash contributions, exactly $1 million went to, you guessed it, the Clinton Family Foundation, whose expenses pay among others those Clinton family members and friends employed by the foundation, like Chelsea Clinton who happens to be the foundation's Vice Chair. Is this the ultimate Clinton reacharound?

I read a tax filing of The Clinton Foundation which had about $147 million in cash at that time, and they gave about $8 million away (they are required by law to give 7%-8% away per year to retain their charitable designation), and they spent $8 million on travel that year.
In other words, they spent as much to get themselves around as they spent on the people they went to see, supposedly.
At that point, one can stop reading...to understand what the Foundation is about.

You and BWilliamson had your contracts renewed. You both were quiet for a while, until it was realized that it would not be smooth sailing for the anointed one.

#22

That's been debunked over and over.

#24

Yes. We shouldn't accept Hillary's misdirection on this. Where are the transcripts?

#25

More likely those who paid for the speeches have some claim to their content. Not a comfortable explanation for Clinton.

#26

Yep, with her polls plummeting and Stein soaring she needed to get us back on here right quick to turn this thing around in this decisive arena.
