Top Trump Adviser Pushing for 'Muslim Registry,' Fast-Tracked Border Wall

Nadia Prupis, staff writer

A top immigration adviser on President-elect Donald Trump's new team is reportedly drafting plans for a "Muslim registry" and said the administration could push to build a U.S.-Mexico border wall quickly without congressional approval.

We will not allow that to happen.

#3

This is really playing into panic journalism.

  • Resurrection of NSEER, even if it happened, would not constitute a "Muslim registry." And isn't the biggest concern those who are already here, possibly naturalized or birthright citizens? What do you do about them?

  • How long will it take to design a wall where there is none now?

  • Identifying the immigration status of all of those arrested would require the cooperation of local law enforcement, and many of those groups have stated clearly that it's not their job and they can't be legally forced to take it on.

Please, CD, things are bad enough. We don't need to make them worse with inflammatory exaggeration.

#4

Fascism wants to hit the ground running.

#5

Just watched NYC Mayor DeBlasio say exactly that, before the gilded door of The Tower, following has meeting with DJT.

#6

So it's not really a "Muslim Registry," it's a way of keeping track of visitors to the U.S. who come from countries where there is "terrorism." Ironically, of course, the U.S. is the world's champion purveyor of state-sponsored terrorism, so really every country should have an "American Registry."

But the misleading headline here gives the impression that Muslim citizens of the U.S. would be targeted.

So let's talk about that. How about providing info on how we could resist such a thing if it were actually proposed. How hard would it be for all of us to become identified as Muslims, too? What would we have to do to achieve this designation? Should we get started now, or can we just sign up when (or if) the time comes?

#7

There will soon be mandatory wearing of an "M" on clothing and then tattoo numbers. The entire world must right-quick begin to confront this right-wing (some might say neo-nazi) direction that has taken the US over - any appeasement or "normalization" with the Trump extremism/racism is collusion with de facto state terrorism and evil.

"The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it." - Albert Einstein

We have already seen what some politicians subversion/corruption of a true humanitarian/progressive/inclusive direction to coddle and actually serve "money uber alles" and Mammon can do when they achieve power under false pretense and then betray the 99% as well as notions of the Golden Rule.......they empower extremism and make the rise to power of such as this possible (and likely)......

#8

New fence segments or wall...not long according to the guy from The New Yorker yesterday on Fresh Air (yeah, I hit it on a relevant day).

#9

We are all Muslim Americans now. We are all illegal immigrants now. We are all black lives matter now. We are all Native Americans now. And if we do not all hang together with these demonized minorities now, we will surely all be politically hanged together!

" A Muslim registry". What is next, a nationwide stop and frisk for all Americans?

#10

I agree. This all makes me sick to my stomach. This needs to be nipped in the bud before anyone is rounded up because of their religious beliefs. Just like before, if they are allowed to round up people of the Muslim faith, next will come the Hindu faith, and then homosexuals and disabled and elderly people........ Europe knows full well where this leads --- This will be the undoing of the Empire and rightly so.

"First they came for the Muslims, and I did not speak out- because I was not a Muslim.

Then they came for the illegal immigrants, and I did not speak out because I was not an illegal immigrant.

Then they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me."
- Martin Niemöller

And likewise; "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." - George Santayana

I disagree. We need to be vigilant, yes, but we need to resist panic. It's all very well to recite the Niemoller "First they came for ...," but we need to understand who the "they" would be coming. There is no way to accomplish even what the guy from Kansas envisions, let alone what Nadia Prupis has inflated it to.

Let's talk about what's actually being done and what we're doing about it.

#13

Since there's no "membership roster" in any Muslim institution, and one becomes a Muslim by "making Shehadeh" — reciting the affirmation that Allah is the one God and Mohammed is God's Prophet — and one can do that alone at home, it would be pretty easy for everyone who cared to intervene to sign up should a registration process be announced. Even those of us who have no intention of practicing the other 4 pillars can fairly easily say we "submit" (the meaning of "Islam") to the will of God. Yes, one knows that will through the Qur'an, but it's by way of figuring out how to express it in one's own life ("ishjihad," self-struggle).

Let me be the first to break the news to you. The fucking Democrat leaders and politicians, with a few notable exceptions, in and out of government will not do anything substantial to stop Trump. Unlike the Republicans who have blocked Obama and blocked Bill Clinton before that the Dems will roll over, or maybe bend over is more accurate, for the Republicans. Why, because basically the Dems are a gutless bunch of wimps.

I can't stand Trump and all of the filthy vermin who are crawling out from underneath their rocks to bully those that aren't like them. I'm a white guy and I have never been more disgusted with the bottom feeding garbage that think there is something special about being white or more properly Caucasian.

But to be honest I have to admit that I am bigoted myself. I just can't stand Republicans and I will never understand why they get such a charge out of, or are so gleeful about, taking healthcare and other social programs away from those who need it? .

Are they all psychopaths? Whatever they are we have to get rid of them. They are literally destroying the world.

#15

Perhaps we should all wear an 'M' on clothing, if that happens, and then add the numbers, if that's what comes next. We're all in this together, because sooner or later we will all become targets, as the Niemoller quote illustrates.

#16

Good idea. We all need to stick together like glue. If they come for one of us -- they come for all of us.

#17

Not panic journalism in the least. After all, CD informed you that NSEER is a means of establishing this de facto Muslim registry in regard to immigration.

As CD has informed you, via this reporting, as it stands NSEER wasn't implemented in full force.

As it stands, Trump, Mr. "ban Muslims from entering the US" is president elect, and a "top Trump Adviser", Kobach, was a designer of NSEER.

Since, it is clear in the article, that Kobach wants to utilize the NSEER – that is currently not being utilized because of Obama's curtailment of its full force – as being a means TO use "extreme vetting" of immigrants from certain countries (predominately Muslim) it is damn OBVIOUS that the intent is there FOR what absolutely amounts to a "Muslim Registry".

How long will it take to build that clucking wall? Isn't the fact that apparently the plan is to get to work ASAP enough alarm for you there bkswrites? Isn't it enough of a concern, to those of us who actually give a damn, that Trump is seeking ways to bypass Congress in order to expedite the construction?

What? Pointing these very facts is out is "panic journalism"?

For a second I forgot who I was writing to. I mean, you ALWAYS come to the defense of the strongman. Why not come to the defense of the fascist Trump?

We should just get used to this from you.

And, in spite of the fact that a Trump Administration will indeed encounter push back at various levels for rounding up them thar Mexicans, for pity's sake bkswrites, why is it "panic journalism" to point out that Trump is apparently pursuing this policy in the transition?

And that the article points out that such deportation of people convicted of nothing can indeed be accomplished with such police depts that would be cooperative – this amounts to "panic journalism"?

Well for pity's sake, it will be interesting to watch how many times you in effect, apologize for this fascist in the months to come.

Just remembered a little ditty we used to sing when I was a kid.
* "Oh der fuehrer said dot ve ist der Master Race, und zo ve Heil pffft! Heil pffft! Right in der fuehrer's face."
* Seventy-five years ago, I never expected to have a Fourth Reich and a new fuehrer in this country. We spent too much in lives and property getting rid of the one in Germany.
* I guess Santayana and Edmund Burke were right, "Those who do not understand history are doomed to repeat it."
;-})

#19

Please help us understand bkswrites who you think the "they" is, that in actuality according to you"would be coming".

So we panic prone leftists can understand better. I'm corn-fused.

What can't be accomplished?

What is actually being done?

Tell us.
