And just like the few wall Street banks that were fined for their corrupt behavior after the 2008/2009 crash they caused, the fines are too small for the crime.
Absolutely. $56 million for crimes that have cost trillions and are in the process of destroying civilization. Not just corrupt but insane.
IMO the fines to money stolen ratio proves to these companies that this model is “good business”, and quite profitable, they won’t stop until they are crushed with jail time and massive fines.
If corporations are persons then the death penalty should apply for many of the crimes they’ve committed. The corporations should be nationalized, turned to useful purposes, excess parts recycled and turned into clean safe renewable energy infrastructure and corporate officers and “non-coms” prosecuted, with a chance to turn over all documents and profits gotten while committing the crimes, and confess everything about corruption, climate denial, etc. in a Truth and Reconciliation process. They’d be prohibited from ever having a position of responsibility in government, business, non-profit or religious organization. In exchange, they’d avoid prison.
Exactly, when a corporation is marched into a gas chamber and put to death, I’ll believe they should have the same rights as people.
