Trump Hides Behind the Storm

Michael Winship

On 9/11, as the World Trade Center collapsed and the Pentagon was in flames, Jo Moore, an adviser to one of British prime minister Tony Blair’s Cabinet members, sent a short email to her boss’ press office: “It is now a very good day to get out anything we want to bury. Councillors expenses?”

Come to think of it, if Tricky Dick didn’t think to pardon himself, he knew it wouldn’t stick. And you could probably say the same for Slick Willie.

With the understanding that President Trump is an obtuse oaf (though a multi-billionaire obtuse oaf–which in the US counts for “gravitas”) I really wonder what is the point of Michael Winship’s article other than to reassure his readers that he hates Trump and everything and everybody associated with him.

After 8 months of pissing and moaning isn’t it past time to go beyond the “dump on Trump” theme?

No, and why?

The world the right wing is creating by delaying our rational responses to impending increasing, simultaneous, and sequential disasters, is one that will provide unlimited events to hide their actions. Fossil fuel and other corporations and the far right have already taken many wide-ranging steps (1) to dismantle our rights and our ability to resist, even our ability to know what’s happening (2); the only right that will remain is their right to plunder and rape. We have to stay focused on what we need to do to remove them from power and avoid ecological cataclysm.

1 Just a small sample: Gerrymandering, voter suppression, rule-changes, attempts to stifle dissent https://www.desmogblog.com/2017/08/22/dakota-access-trump-greenpeace-racketeering?utm_source=dsb%20newsletter KKK (Koch Konstitutional Konvention) http://billmoyers.com/story/kochs-to-rewrite-constitution/ decades of appointing right wing judges, encouragement of brownshirts (not least by pardoning one already convicted) occupying the 99% with naked survival and racial and other divisions, attacks on unions, the press, the left, ecologically aware people, the truth…

Trump is a failure because he refuses to listen to anything that does not shore him up – a typical characteristic of a narcissist. The constant pressure is apparently getting to him. If he won’t listen to criticisms, then he does not need to get all depressed or commit suicide – just resign. We will applaud and stamp our feet and give him wolf-whistles.

Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go!!!

If only, if only, if only, if only, if only, if, if only, if only, if only, if only, if only, if only, if only…!!!

I’d say a good hiding is in order…one by the We the People of elected officials who refuse to represent us.

#9

Yes, but then there’s Pence- Mr. Holier than thou.

I know. We really are in a sh*tstorm.
