Pathological lying has real consequences, especially if you hold the Presidency.
Now, after inciting a group lied to for four years to assault the Capitol building while the tranfer of power to a new administration was in process in order to stop it, this led to the deaths of several people who would be alive if not for his incitement.
And now, the GOP doesnât want the Democrats to Impeach Donald Trump again as this would bring shame to all of them for supporting his violent and racist actions for the past 4 years.
Fuck that.

Go to church and take a 2000-year old document as the Holy truth. So it contradicts itself just a wee bit in places. There is a person at the front of the room who chooses what to discuss on any given Sunday (and/or Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday depending upon your faith and habits). You might not understand the passage on your own, but that person explains his/her interpretation in an authoritative manner. Bam, you have been trained to believeânot to think, but to believe. You have been relieved of the burden of using your frontal cortex and can now snuggle down comfortably into your amygdala. You are now programmed to charge up whatever hill an authoritarian tells you to charge. Ainât that a grand bargain for the mere price of not having to think? Now it might not be religion that hooks you into the authoritarian lifestyle, there are myriad forms of indoctrination, but once you are a bot your chances of escaping authoritarian control are slim to none. Just ask the intubated dying Covid-19 victims who swear that they are sick with something else, and not that hoax as explained to them by Dear Leader. Trump did not make his suckers subject to authoritarianism, he just exploited the groundwork that had been laid before him.

Too many progressives believe that the Trump / GOP cult actually believe the GOPâs misinformation. While some of the cult members DO believe, many GOP loyalists remain so because the GOP has gotten away with ever more egregious lies and crimes with each passing year for at least the past half century.
Ever since the 1985 Democratic Leadership Council (DLC) formation the Democrats have at best tacitly enabled the GOP agenda and often been leading the charge for the GOP (recall Bill Clinton pushing NAFTA, 1996 telecom travesty, and more New Deal dismantling than ever). Until all of FDRâs New Deal regulations that were decriminalized in the name of âderegulationâ are restored, we cannot begin to wrestle âextreme vulture US capitalismâ.

What is your definition of what happened that day, because per the definitions above, this was a failed Coup attempt.

Mark, you cannot be serious about âmisinformationâ and the establishment media and avoid speaking of the treatment of Julian Assange; his brutal and cruel imprisonment for revealing to the world (âCollateral Murderâ video), American and the Westâs murderous militarism.
Non-career Journalists, few that there are; they alone have put cold water on those years of disinformation, force-fed by the CIA to the New York Times, WaPo et al., smearing his name and the work of WikiLeaks.
Pelosi and Biden, Assange is âhigh tech terrorist,â have fueled the flames that engulfed them, with their ruling elite lies; while those storming the Capitol Bldg. will continue to have oceans of gasoline from corporate media.

I agree with you raydelcamino. Many GOP politicians know that theyâre peddling lies, but thatâs what theyâre paid to do by their corporate backers. The same can be said for the Democrats. Markâs article makes the same mistake that so many authors make that we must make our elected leaders âlistenâ. This can only occur if the American electorate chooses our politicians from scratch rather than picking from the narrow choices that corporate America provides us. The Two Party system guarantees that nothing will change. Until we can âdrown this baby in the bathtubâ, the injustice will continue.
The attempted coup was never going to happen. Coupâs in America will only be successful if Wall Street gives it blessing. In this case Wall Street couldnât care less if Trump were successful or not because Wall Street can pull the proverbial plug anytime it likes. People in the know understand that Trump is going down in flames and is grasping at straws, but as long as Trump doesnât incite his base to go after the CEOâs and bankers, any other violence is not only acceptable, but entertaining to the .1%.
The âreal coupâ was when corporate America completely subjugated the mainstream media and both Partyâs to its will. Until we can eliminate this influence from government, the illusion of democracy will be perpetuated ad nauseam.

I had mentioned this on another thread; but, itâs now coming out that a lot of these protesters were flown in on private jets. Some of them were also driven in on furnished, air conditioned busses. You have to wonder; who were the Right Wing millionaires who paid for all of this?

Do you not understand what they were trying to do? Trying to disrupt the certification of Biden as the next President, what did you think all of the lawsuits were about, eliminating enough of Bidenâs votes to garner enough electoral votes for Trump to remain in office, with zero evidence.
This was their last chance to do this, it was bound to fail, and I never said their plan was smart, but that was their plan.

The attempted Coup did happen, we got to see it in real time, it was no doubt going to fail without the backing of the military, but just because the planers were dumb as a bag of rocks, doesnât mean it didnât happen.

They disrupted it alright. Iâm sure it felt great for them. They got way farther than any lefty group ever has. Right into the floor of the House. Can you imagine if BLM had found a way in? Or anti-Vietnam protesters had in the 60s? Or any other group wanting to stop Congress doing something like signing the NDAA for a few hours. Or how about make them do something like vote on the Medicare for All bill, even if it fails? Might be the only way it would ever happen. Lol
