Since wealth and income are so imbalanced in the US, maybe it is time to go to a progressive wealth tax instead of a progressive income tax.

Effectively a tax on assets instead of income. Many rich people get the major portion of their incomes from "capital gains" and "carried interest". Which are taxed at a much lower rate than income is.

I would not want to seem sarcastic or to make a snide remark but:
The rich people are the "job creators". They need servants.
Cuts have to be made somewhere. It would be too bad to run out of bombs for the rest of the world.
Keeping warplanes in the air all the time costs money.
The economy depends on delivering death to foreigners.
Capitalism is working for us, at the moment.
