Dear Mike Pompeo,
We funded your excellent training at West Point which you obviously took very seriously, graduating first in your class. You then ended up in Germany where you led a tank squadron yet ended up a maintenance officer and mustered out as a captain. What happened to all of that taxpayer-invested training you achieved? Now you want to play armchair warrior. Fuck off.

Behold! The ignoble death throes of yet another Roman Empire wannabe.

I don’t always agree with Professor Cole, but in these crazy times in the ME, I am very grateful his articles are posted here at CD. He has knowledge about that area of the world, that most of us can only dream of.

Juan was a bit better in this writing.

The next week in Iraq politics may throw us out entirely. Is Pompeo working for Bolton??
I am certain that Trump did not even know who the Iranian general was. And unable to grasp the aftermath against us. If they bothered to tell him.

“Is Pompeo working for Bolton?”

Good question to be sure, and being dumber than a rock, I have no doubt you’re correct about Trumps involvement in the planning of this operation. The funny thing is, I wonder if Pompeo realizes he’s most likely the # one target on Iran’s list for retaliation. We’ll see, if he hides out here in the US, or continues to travel the world with a bullseye on his back. Thanks for the link.

Looks like Trump managed to unite a lot of Iraqis behind kicking the US out.

In the absence of US intelligence looking around for ISIS, Iranian-backed militias will fill the gap.
And suddenly, anti-Iranian protests will be few and far between.

Let’s review, shall we:

Afghanistan: 18 years, $2trillion, and a concerted multi-administration bullshit story – a loss.
Iraq: 17 years, more than $4trillion, and repeated surges and militia buy outs – a loss.
Libya: More an assassination than a war, and of course – a loss.
Syria: 5 years, clueless fumbling to oust Assad, Putin dictating the action – a loss.

Gee, I wonder how things are going to turn out in Iran…

A blog I posted back in November that points out that the Iraqi’s were protesting against BOTH American and Iranian interference in their country.

Trump’s ineptitude has now led Iraqi’s now returning their support back to Iran

Your statment “another Roman empire wannabe” begs for me to re-post this Carl Sandburg poem for anyone who cares to read it. “Four Preludes on Playthings of the Wind”:

THE WOMAN named To-morrow
sits with a hairpin in her teeth
and takes her time
and does her hair the way she wants it
and fastens at last the last braid and coil
and puts the hairpin where it belongs
and turns and drawls: Well, what of it?
My grandmother, Yesterday, is gone.
What of it? Let the dead be dead.

The doors were cedar
and the panels strips of gold
and the girls were golden girls
and the panels read and the girls chanted:
We are the greatest city,
the greatest nation:
nothing like us ever was.

The doors are twisted on broken hinges.
Sheets of rain swish through on the wind
where the golden girls ran and the panels read:
We are the greatest city,
the greatest nation,
nothing like us ever was.

It has happened before.
Strong men put up a city and got
a nation together,
And paid singers to sing and women
to warble: We are the greatest city,
the greatest nation,
nothing like us ever was.

And while the singers sang
and the strong men listened
and paid the singers well
and felt good about it all,
there were rats and lizards who listened
… and the only listeners left now
… are… the rats… and the lizards.

And there are black crows
crying, ‘Caw, caw,’
bringing mud and sticks
building a nest
over the words carved
on the doors where the panels were cedar
and the strips on the panels were gold
and the golden girls came singing:
We are the greatest city,
the greatest nation:
nothing like us ever was.

The only singers now are crows crying, ‘Caw, caw,’
And the sheets of rain whine in the wind and doorways.
And the only listeners now are… the rats… and the lizards.

The feet of the rats
scribble on the door sills;
the hieroglyphs of the rat footprints
chatter the pedigrees of the rats
and babble of the blood
and gabble of the breed
of the grandfathers and the great-grandfathers
of the rats.

And the wind shifts
and the dust on a door sill shifts
and even the writing of the rat footprints
tells us nothing, nothing at all
about the greatest city, the greatest nation
where the strong men listened
and the women warbled: Nothing like us ever was.

Worse. Exponentially worse.

Liars, hucksters, con artists, sham artists, and basically clowns wrote this story. I’ve personally scoured the Twitter pages of Iranians and read THOUSANDS of comments since trump took out that terrorist scumbag and the vast majority of them are grateful for trump taking that guy out. So yes, this is total bs and the person who wrote it should be tied to a woodshed wall and horse whipped with a wet leather strap because they are blatant liars.
