Revelations from documents connected to Trump University are generating outrage across the political spectrum, from my colleague Terrance Heath, who called it “a scheme to transfer wealth from people who had little,” to the conservative journal National Review which carried an editorial proclaiming it “a massive scam.”
I'm reminded of that old George C Scott movie, The Flim-Flam Man. But that too reminds me of Bill Clinton.
Perhaps there are some exceptions but for the most part the for-profit colleges seem to be more scam than educational institutions. Overall they do seem to do more harm than good. Trump's was even more of a scam because it was called a university but was not accredited by New York State. At the very least these institutions have to be accredited. But by and large they take advantage of people not doing well financially by selling them dreams that rarely come true. For most students it is money down the drain.
