TrumpCare Rears Its Ugly Head Again—And It's Even Worse

Nika Knight, staff writer

Since President Donald Trump and House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) failed spectacularly last month to pass a long-promised healthcare bill that would repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA), progressive voices have urged politicians to solve the problems of rising premiums and unequal access to care with nationwide Medicar

The ACA was the closest these right wingers will ever get in regards to a market-based means of getting closer to (but not achieving) something approximating universal care. Because private health insurance companies are inefficient and because the system is far more wasteful than public systems, even the ACA is limited in what it can do, unless it increasingly adopts characteristics of single payer systems (like allowing for Medicare to use its economies of scale to bargain down the price of drugs). This push just proves how out to lunch these people are, their unwillingness to see the country and this issue from outside their impenetrable bubble. They have no solutions, and whatever they offer will make things worse and will result in lots of people dying. Having said all of this, Sanders and others are pushing for single payer. However, not all Democrats are in favor of or are willing to rhetorically back single payer. They say they want to improve the ACA instead of single payer. Okay, so where’s their plan? Where is the plan from the Clinton types? Remember when she said single payer will never, ever, ever, be possible? They too have no ideas, just fluff. If the Republicans do this though, they are toast, even if the Democrats are the only alternative, and that is why the party will almost certainly work to isolate the nuts but will try their best to look like they aren’t. Doesn’t governing suck when you are ideologically opposed to governing?

They should sink under their own weight taking the Archie Bunker section with them, Koch corruption notwithstanding.

Do you ever get the feeling we are stuck in the middle of those who have no heart and those who have no head?

#7

Yes! Money and greed can do that - but only if they let it.

#8

I'm sure these unfeeling and in the bubble leaders know exactly what the Americans want in their healthcare. It is "Medicare for all" aka "single payer." They simply see the American public as irrelevant. They love the power! They are blatantly giving us all the middle finger - straight up- with smug and ugly looks on their faces..

#9

Yes, and the worst is to have a president that doesn’t have either.

No worries. This just in:

If you are an older senior citizen and can no longer take care of yourself
and need Long Term Care but the government says there is no Nursing Home
care available for you, what do you do?

You may soon be able to opt for Medicare Part G.

The plan gives anyone 65 or older a gun (Part G) and one bullet. You may
then shoot one worthless politician. This means you will be sent to prison
for the rest of your life where you will receive three meals a day, a roof
over your head, central heating and air conditioning, cable TV, a library,
and all the health care you need. Need new teeth? No problem. Need
glasses? That's great. Need a hearing aid, new hip, knees, kidney,
lungs sex change, or heart? They are all covered!

As an added bonus, your kids can come and visit you at least as often as they do now!

And, who will be paying for all of this? The same government that just told
you they can't afford for you to go into a nursing home.

And you will get rid of a useless politician while you are at it.

And now, because you are a prisoner, you don't have to pay any more income taxes!

Is this a great country or what?

Now that you have solved your senior Long Term Care problem, go enjoy the weekend!

Bingo! Until we come after them with total, rolling, non cooperation and send their money world crashing.

If they go to allowing insurance companies to sell policies across state lines, what is to prevent the insurance companies from moving to a state that allows them to exclude whomever they want while also offering whatever they want at whatever premium they want? Then they could sell crap insurance to people who live in a state that doesn't allow that.

#13

If the Republicans pass this they will kiss their careers godby. We need to publicize what the effects will be. Talk about the tax bargain for the rich. Talk about the people who will lose their insurance and make sure that people understand that the when you buy Trump care insurance you really won't be buying insurance. Als omake sure that not only your grand mother will be thrown under the buss but also your Mothers and Fathers who will pay five times as much.
We need to say this over and over again in town halls etc,
I don't think the Senate will ever pass this but we need to make the people who support this pay a big price.

And with an extra ugly coat of orange paint.

#15

That's very creative, and priceless Giovanna!

#16

The time is now for an alternative to a support mechanism for the 1%.

If you want a party that puts People, Planet, and Peace before Profit look no further than the Green Party and Dr. Jill Stein and Ajamu Baraka.

Come on people, this really isn't rocket science. Do you want continued corruption and corporate servitude, or would you like a taste of equality for a change.

The choice is ours.

Ya know, I really used to like the color Orange, until the Orangutan came along.

The so-called "Freedom Caucus" should more appropriately be called the "Kochistan Caucus!"
