Most physicians and citizens want a plan that would provide free coverage for most things. Something like Medicare for all would satisfy the majority of people. The late Dr. Arnold Relman, former editor of the New England Journal of Medicine, wrote a book - A Second Opinion - outlining how to organize setting up a single payer system. It would be
paid for by our taxes and run by our doctors so that we would have free choice about who our doctor is. Why something like this is needed is because the healthcare system has become corrupted by vested interests (insurance and Pharma).
The how and what about this can be learned from reading Dr. John Abramson's book Overdosed America.
The current system doesn't need the quick fix being suggested but a totally new fix, a real one.
