Trump's $174 Billion Budget Lie

Trump's $174 Billion Budget Lie

Lindsay Koshgarian

Over the past week, the Trump administration put out their proposal for the federal budget for fiscal year 2020, which starts in October of this year.

With this budget, Trump is trying to have his cake and eat it too: he wants to claim that he’s adhering to strict spending limits favored by deficit hawks in his party, but there’s just one problem. His budget leaves a spare $174 billion in extra Pentagon lying around in plain sight, while claiming that it doesn’t count toward spending limits.

If only the author hadn’t chosen the Corporation for Petroleum Brainwashing to garner sympathy. They rattle their sabres on the Pentagon’s behalf often. “Chaos is Caracas, anyone?”

Another one of the thousands of lies this monster has uttered over the past two years, let alone his entire life! This fascist and rascist regime must be stopped before they are unstoppable. Nazi Germany started this way and we know what it took to end it. So let us see a Senator, a Congressman, a CIA person, a FBI person, a federal judge, or any person or persons of authority serve these crooks with a warrant for their arrest for crimes against our country and all of humanity. Or maybe citizens arrest? Peace

"I wonder what percentage Trump and his kids plan to skim off the top."

The President’s budget includes a nice reflection of his anti-science ideas:
a cut of $4.7 billion to NIH for medical research
a cut of $1.0 billion to NSF for science research
a cut of $2.7 billion to the EPA for clean air/water and climate research
a cut of $1.9 billion to the DOE for renewable energy research
Total of those cuts = $10.3 billion

just enough to pay for the request of an additional $8.6 billion for the infamous border wall and a measly 1% of the unauthorized extra funds this article is describing that go to the Pentagon ($8.6+$1.7 = $10.3 billion).

Centrist politics relies upon citizen ignorance to maintain the status quo of inscrutability and contradiction.
Confusion is the cornerstone.
Placed there by power.
Patriotism misbegotten believes the poor should rot while wars rage and the few offshore complain about taxes.
Porn star n’ movie presidents rule to the cheering crowds.
Government operating in secrecy calls itself democracy.
The meaning cannot be found and tradition continues.
The heart of political America . . . . . . a heart of darkness?

It is telling that the vast majority of Dems always go along with ever increasing, obscene military budgets. There are a small handful of Dems/Indepedents that vote against foul smelling wars and crippling Pentagon budgets that lack of transparency and accountability. The same small handful of Dems/Independents are the only ones willing to vote for the people versus Wall Street. The rest vote to weaken laws made to protect the people out of fear, or owing Wall Street financiers. Even many purported “progressives” have voted for twisted wars or are willing to hand their power over to the President, abandoning their responsibilities. They go along with destroying the protections of Dodd-Frank. It is beyond disappointing to see those you thought highly of vote to support Wall Street at the expense of the people. The American people have been duped before for a bailout - actually, we had no say in it - will rise up if Washington talks bailouts when lawmakers helped facilitate the next financial crisis. Fool me once… I am hopeful with the new group of lawmakers in the House there may be hope.
