Trump's Justice Dept Escalates Its Disturbing Crackdown on Leaks by Seizing New York Times Reporter's Phone and Email Records

Trevor Timm

In an aggressive escalation of its already disturbing crackdown on leaks, Trump’s Justice Department secretly obtained a year’s worth of phone calls and email records of Ali Watkins, a New York Times reporter who previously covered national security issues for Buzzfeed.

As the New York Times reported on Thursday evening:

A "years worth of phone calls…"Isn’t that what the Bluffdale spy place in Utah does to everyone anyway? Of is it called Bluffdale, because no government spy group is saving anything?

Since we are supposed to have 17 spy agencie----s and that seems like a lot---------maybe they just troll everyone to justify their jobs. On the other hand---------is #4 " The right of the People to be secure in their persons, houses, papers and defects against unreasonable searches and seizures---------shall not be violated and no warrant shall be issued, but upon probable cause supported by oath of affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched and the person or things to be seized." So did the Justice Dept follow number 4 correctly?

Since they SECRETLY obtained her records-------without a warrant???--------do they get to arrest themselves for doing it?
