Trump's Tax Returns "More Important Than Ever" Amid Election Probe

In response to President Donald Trump's statement Thursday that he "may" release his tax returns when he leaves office, opponents said seeing the documents was more important than ever.

Trump has previously claimed that he cannot release the documents while he is being audited by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), which the IRS has said is not true. But in an interview with the Economist published Thursday, the president didn't need any help contradicting himself:


The 'Liar-in-Chief' will never turn over his tax returns as they would be more evidence of High Crimes and Misdemeanors.


The president just doesn't "get it' that the more he stalls and delays releasing them, the more it looks like he knows he has something to hide.


The author is right: there is a direct relationship between any financial deals Trump may have had with the Russians, and what was reported as income in this tax returns. The fact that the Senate has now asked the Commerce Department for investigative reports looks ominous for Trump.

First he blames an IRS audit (denied by the IRS to exist) for withholding his tax returns, then he says he might do so when he leaves office (assuming his impeachment does not need this as evidence). One would think coming clean with his tax returns would calm suspicious minds, and would be to Trump's political benefit. Unless .............
