They can’t win so they cheat. Free Lula! Hold new elections and send the prosecutors to take Lula’s place in prison.

Put another way, they can’t win unless they cheat.

The prosecutors implicated by the documents issued a statement saying they are the victim of a “criminal act” by a hacker, but did not dispute the authenticity of the documents.

In other words, “The Russians did it.”

It’s been quite clear for some time (since Moro was appointed minister by Bolsonaro) that this was a frame-up. Yet, Moro was the “darling” of the Neoliberal mainstream press.

Character assassination here is the same thing, and we have seen this for quite some time already.

The same concept applies to the GOP here in the US. But they use a different method; voter suppression and gerrymandering. But I would’t put it past them to go Brazillian in the future.

The obvious solution to this problem is to jail the journalists who released this story.
At least that is what would happen in the US.

This story is about Brazil, yet half the comments try to make it about the USA (and even a snark that absurdly likens the genuinely fascist Bolsonario to the US Democrats).

Will the US-left please drop making every world event about the USA?

Here’s a thought. Since Trump and the US Military are seriously salivating to invade somebody, why don’t they invade…Brazil! Obvious voter fraud, a right wing coup d’ etat by the wealthy right wingers, and the US could PROMOTE Democracy. For a change.

Imagine all those sanctions on Venezuela on Brazil, and that stupid aircraft carrier off Iran was hanging off the beaches of Rio! Now that’s some dang good liberty for the sailors won’t you agree?

Oh, yeah, that’s right. We were overthrown in 2000 by a bunch of Right Wing judges just like Lula. Forgetful me! Ours are called SCOTUS judges and they are all powerful, too. Somebody quick tell me the difference between the Brazil bozos and ours…

There are a lot of similarities between Trump & Bolsonaro. And the Republofascists are willing to do just about anything to stay in power, & what was done to Lula fits their playbook nicely. Imagine that they might try to do something like that to Sanders, Warren or Buttigieg if one of them became president.

…or appeared to be on course to winning the presidency. Even the DNC might try something like that if Sanders (& maybe Warren, Gabbard or Inslee) was on course to winning the nomination.

Translating this story of lies and deception employed in Brazil to defeat Lula and gain political and legislative power, or via executive fiat, that will fundamentally change the landscape (literally and figuratively), to the US and our politics, this comment sheds a strong light on the why, in part.

“It is the tragedy of the principled person, who is constrained by principle, being opposed by the completely unprincipled – Barr, and the president, and their lackeys.

“The principled are chained, and the unprincipled romp free. And in a debate over reality, the unprincipled will always win, because they will just lie, and they will make reality whatever they want it to be.”

The right and fascist corporate whores have zero commitment to truth, or justice, or the Common Good, while very often “the opposition” (if not complicit to the crimes) is constrained by principle or misplaced reticence.

“Mueller went out like a lamb in his remarks Wednesday when the country needed a lion.”

When you look at what is going on in Honduras and Venezuela and Argentina and Ecuador, maybe you should consider that it is about the USA.
