The United Nations secretary general added his voice on Thursday to the international call urging President Donald Trump to maintain the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran, days before the president is expected to announce his decision on the agreement.
Accepting “reason” is not one of Trump’s “strong suits.”
One party’s decision to pull out of a multi-party agreement does not end the agreement. It does expose that party as reneging on the promises they made as a nation. The other parties involved can and should continue to live and abide by the agreement, and should band together to resist any disruptive demands or behavior by the discredited violator. The other parties should tell Trump to shut up and go away and make it clear that if the U.S. tries to retaliate against any member remaining in the accord they will face firm and unified diplomatic and economic consequences.
