I looked for a description of the billions of gallons of water Nestle extracts for sale–all of it taken from aquifers around the world–and sold none knows exactly where. Desperate communities or local govts. make poor deals to get some cash, and when they wake up to the rip off, Nestle’s legal department steps in to quash resistance. The article did not mention this. If water is the new oil, then it needs to be protected from profiteers also. Nestle has denied that access to water is a human right, technically calling that view an “extreme.”
This is now a source of conflict between bordering countries. One of the most serious is between Egypt and Ethiopia on the Daming of the upper nile.War is not far off.The other is the use of waters along the Mekong river, very close to fighting there !
Another country that is taking other people’s water is Israel.
They saw this coming some years ago and this played a major factor when the NATO Countries took out Libya. The French water companies for very envious of all of that water underground that Libya was beginning to develop.
One of the targets of those Air Strikes they launched was the infrastructure which Libya had built under Qaddaffi so as to distribute that water across that nation.
Too many acronyms in this one for easy reading… and it’s an important topic. Could you try again?
