"If we open up the possibility that individuals...can routinely start suing other governments, then we are also opening up the United States to being continually sued by individuals in other countries."

This from the man who is pushing the TPP with its ISDS clause that allows corporations to sue governments.

Hypocrisy much?

Whoops, didn't see your comment until after I posted mine...

Read Sen. Bob Graham's Keys to the Kingdom for an idea of what the 28 pages hold. It's a pretty good read, as I recall.

No argument here.

Whether the USA's administration likes it or not we are a human community and, as such, members of that community have responsibilities to each other. If Britain can accept being sued in London by former members of the Mau Mau terrorists, why cannot the USA not face responsibility for its actions?

Any Saudi involvements were only Mossad cut-outs. It is the Mossad that must be held to account, and its neo-con shadow govt. in DC.

The beads of perspiration forming on O's mask belie the fear of payback from drone victims not to mention the opening of the flood gates holding back the truth that the Saudis were only acting on orders from Warsh.

QUOTE: Obama recently argued, "If we open up the possibility that individuals...can routinely start suing other governments, then we are also opening up the United States to being continually sued by individuals in other countries." Some interpreted this as a veiled reference to the United States' controversial anti-terror policy, including its broad use of killer drone strikes. UNQUOTE
Well now, let's do it then!
It is about time, that all this is opened up. Maybe some bright Iraqi group ca put a nice little suit together against Bush, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Powell and the rest of the assailants of Iraq - Clean them out financially and put them behind bars.
Hopefully the reparations we have to pay comes our of that overblown "defense" budget.

All of these professional politicians could sign off on this since they know Obama will not allow it to stand but its great PR. When push comes to shove, they will all back down but make some show about making it work. The Saudi's hold too much US wealth for the US to really put them against the wall--Same for China. The real issue is the Pandora's Box of putting the US at risk to be sued for war crimes and terrorist acts and be held accountable.

so perhaps the rub really is that our government is worried about US citizens sueing their own government for the role it played in 9-11 after the cat is out of Pandora s box ???
