'Unearned Gift to Donald Trump': Democrats Under Fire for Slow Approach to Obtaining President's Tax Returns

Jake Johnson, staff writer

After taking control of the House in the 2018 midterms, Democrats vowed to get their hands on President Donald Trump's tax returns as part of their broad oversight agenda.

But, months into 2019, critics say Democrats are moving with "incomprehensible sluggishness" that is threatening their chances of getting the documents before the 2020 elections.

Why is this such a priority? Aren’t there a WHOLE LOT more things that the damnocrats should be after the Asshole-in-Chief for?!

Yes- but they do not want to do the work

Sorry, mealouts, I forgot that aspect. Also, they aren’t being paid by dark money to do anything else, eh?

If the Dem "leadership’ could only walk, and chew gum at the same time. We could have nice things

What would we learn from Trump’s tax return? The system is rigged to favor the rich and vulgar rich…aided and abetted by the wall street democrats for campaign loot. We already know that!!

Lets talk about how the democrats are going to win the 2020 election not how they plan to reelect Trump.

Good one! Sad fact- they do NOT WANT to do better- it’s more important to be “politically correct” or to at least look that way while melting into the corportists arms.

They DO plan to re elect Dump.

The Dem party as a whole is a gift to Trump. He could not ask for a better fall guy. The Dem party as a whole when it comes to resisting the GOP and corporate interests is a paper tiger that has had a bucket of water dumped on it.

They fight between themselves or pretend to- all that fake crying- doesn’t mean a thing, and they are WEAK!

It is a priority because we know he is dishonest and this will provide us with evidence and maybe this time the senate will have no choice but to impeach him. As long as he is president, there’s a danger that he will declare a state of emergency and hold on to power by whatever means necessary. He already threatened to send the bikers, the police and the army if he isn’t re-elected (as if he ever was lol).

As a whole, yes. We have a guy (from the district nextdoor) named Ro Khanna who seems to have his head properly attached. Jackie Speier (used to be my district) was nearly shot to death going after Jim Jones, and that experience has generally focused her mind on stuff that matters. But Speier is putting too much emphasis on this stupid report lately, so I worry about her.

You’d have a hard time convincing me that all of these people are hopeless. Can you imagine a path to turning around the dems’ death-spiral?

Trump being a tax cheat as evidenced by his returns is something even the dimwitted base can understand. It would also show his negative net worth which would let some hot air out of his businessman bragging balloon.

But how are Democrats going to reach across the aisle in the spirit of bipartisanship to work with Mitch McConnell and their Republican friends if they make the president angry?

That is merely crumbs from a two ton cake. Besides, his “Dim-witted base” won’t give a damn anyway. THAT is if they even allow the evidence to enter their empty brains.

For one thing, we’ll be able to tell how much his tax cut gave him but also other more savory things such as offshore accounts, ghost companies, lying on loan applications about his net worth and so on.

Right now the Democrats are too busy attacking Bernie.

Congratulations Christophe, you are the first one on this thread to go after Trump about his tax returns instead of democrats. A heart for you.

Did anyone here really think Nancy wanted to put this criminal behind bars?

She’s part of the problem, not the solution.

Kidding yourself won’t help your kids.
