We also live in a country with a tradition of civil disobedience to protest unjust laws. Each of us can use our own conscience to decide what those are.
Actually, the immigrants are planting and harvesting the food that Americans eat, and taking care of their children, homes, gardens and public spaces, at wages native born Americans won't accept. So, immigrants don't decrease our quality of life but increase it by making it possible to eat, for instance.
Last time I checked, andrewboston is still a weak thinker and an asshole.
The New Colossus
By Emma Lazarus, 1883
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, suet gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome, her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost tom me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
