It's worth checking out the comment section (imo) in the NY Times piece linked above----some poignant posts that express "solastalgia" and what people are experiencing around the country related to AGW.
This was posted recently by the obscure “Sam Carana”. (wish he/she/they would come out!)
While I acknowledge the site is controversial and many feel it is over the top, it is my perception that there are some points here that may become reality in short order . . .
and here is post from 2007 that examines 10 dangers related to human induced warming including there increased risks of dictatorial governments that will take actions that make things worse, resulting in total economic collapse.
Many things “Sam Carana” predicted would happen are happening right now all around the world. One can easily site examples of flooding, shortage of water, migration/refugees, war/civil unrest and tipping points. I believe numbers 5, 6 and 10 will unfold very soon, perhaps in 2017:
Shortage of water
Famine and disease
Migration and refugees
Collapse of the financial system
War and civil unrest
Pollution, in particular as a result of nuclear fall out
