German Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel (above) said this week in Homburg that the U.S. government threatened to cease sharing intelligence with Germany if Berlin offered asylum to NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden or otherwise arranged for him to travel to that country. “They told us they would stop notifying us of plots and other intelligence matters,” Gabriel said.
Nothing like blackmail posing as diplomacy or respect for Democratic laws and liberties. What, if anything, can be put past the Deep State in its embrace of torture, lawless surveillance of all citizens, wars based on fixed “evidence,” perjury emanating from high places, and the evidence that its financial gaming of The System sends enormous wealth to the tippy top of the fiscal food chain while so many go homeless, hungry, jobless, and broken by despair.
What makes the US think it can keep its “intelligence” from Germany? I hope they stand up to us and grant Snowden asylum. The US is increasingly irrelevant in the world.
My advice to Germany would be to not only give Snowden asylum, but give him a job. He would give Germany better intelligence than what the U.S. gives them.
Where on the planet is there now or has there ever been a greater terrorist than Uncle Sam in the 21st Century?
One that preferably does not give him access to classified info
Someone should remind the Slick Oily administration that that door swings both ways. The GW Bush administration ignored over 50 warnings from allied intelligence agencies and gave us 9/11. If Germany were to reciprocate in kind, it could prove most harmfull to our own national security! Besides such threats could just as easily push Germany into an alliance with Russia, China and the other BRIC countries, something the amerikan government would most certainly come to rue!
Thanks to the V. Chancellor for revealing what thugs the U. S. government has become! Until we get these despicable thugs OUT of our government (leftover sociopaths from the Bushista administration), the propagandists, etc. nothing will change!
