'Virginia Voters Are Finally Getting Fair Maps': Rights Advocates Celebrate US Supreme Court Ruling on Racial Gerrymandering

The claim that this ruling is a win for African-Americans means it is a loss for everyone else. That is not the way Americans deal with voting rights. While the courts have ruled that political gerrymandering is legal to a certain degree, they have also ruled that racial gerrymandering is not legal. This case was decided on standing to sue and not on the merits. I would recommend being more judicious in calling it a victory for anyone beyond the actual appellees.

Gerrymandering for race, politics AND school boundaries stinks.
I interned in ESL in an Alabama school district with a map which had circles drawn around streets where Mexicans lived in the middle of white districts to send them to schools farther away.
