Beloved Israeli refusenik, BDS activist and advocate for Palestinian rights Renen Raz has died at 28, reportedly from brain cancer. Raised on a kibbutz near the Gazan border, his political awakening came after he asked about the "other people" who had lived in a now-empty house and "realized something wasn’t right." He spent most of his adult life organizing with anti-occupation groups. “My solution is just equality for all people," he said. "It’s a pure call for justice.”
May you enjoy a fuller life of peace and justice, fulfilled in another realm.
Renen Raz, Presente!
I hope your legacy/elegy will include these words, "And his actions spurred millions to follow the path of justice."
Thank you. Shalom and salaam.
We can't afford to lose people like him, especially at such a young age. Renen, thank you for all you have done in the name of justice. RIP.
May the trees all shake for Renen Raz!
