Oh my God, these dirty bastards are trying to influence our elections!!! and should immediately be sanctioned for their anti-democracy corruption. Indeed, Wall Street should be invaded, with or without any declaration of war by Congress, merely via executive fiat, and their lobbyists in DC should be expelled.

I mean, the influence of Wall Street and other corporate big money on US elections, compared to anything “the Russians” might attempt, is like the difference between Mt. Everest and an anthill.

Oh, also the corporate media, which is owned by the wealthiest individuals in society - clearly having a huge impact on our democratic processes. Sanction them, kick out their representatives, and send warships into their waters to make them pay for their evil ways.

We know the problem.
The issue is how to fix it. Especially in the face of “Nothing Will Fundamentally Change”

Dark money can’t be traced or isn’t accounted for in this 2020 election cycle report? Well, add in another 10-15% of total contributions, to cover for that untraceable gold bank of loose change for loose political hacks. Especially so for Republicans, like Matt Gaetz, who if he was any looser would fall to pieces. Oh wait, he is.
BTW, Wildraven- dark money can’t be accounted for in our Federal elections. And your attempt at dark snark and cheap sarcasm reminds us that there’s no accountability for that, either. { snark }

Legal Traitorous Action.

Who benefited?

Those receiving the money. Not us.

Recall back in 2004 Illinois Senator Durbin telling us that “Wall Street owns Washington DC” ? It keeps getting worse with each passing year.

True, too bad there is not some way to impose sanctions on Wall Street.

I was still voting for him back then. Not now.
He has been in DC “:forever”, and hasn’t changed much

This is entirely the fault of the voter. They could have selected bribery free candidates in the primaries. But they listen to the corporate media telling them who can’t win and who can. And the media sides with the bribery class.

I wonder how much Warren or Sanders or AOC got from these robber barons? What better way to choose the pols you’ll support?

And the least we can do is pass laws that allow us to shine a light. It’s obscene that there is so much dark money.

It’s supposed to get worse every year. How do you think the criminal class keeps track of their winnings.

Legalized corruption… who pays the piper, calls the tune

It gets worse, now they’re trying to buy the Manhattan District Attorney’s race, so the office will look the other way when they commit their crimes we all pay for. So far WS has pumped millions into the race for their hand picked candidate, Tali Farhadian Weinstein, who’s worth millions, owns a $25 million penthouse on 5th Ave., and her husband owns SABA Capital management, who some claim is a shady WS company.

They are funded by the people. They are not beholden to the bribery class

In the meantime those who have any savings and don’t want to enable a cannibalistic capitalist system are going to go broke due to inflation.

Along with the fact that there is no place to put any amount you’ve saved in interest bearing accounts (with small banks or credit unions).

Many are forced to take risks and invest in the stock market or (the biosphere destroying) bitcoin and now there is Dogecoin!!

It’s hard to decipher what is from the Onion and what is not these days.

CD’s, money markets, treasury bills once safe havens are no longer options for the working class people to park their savings. Unless you are part of the elite, savings is impossible today!

“Real estate” is INSANE all over the country and in other parts of the world. It seems to me this is totally unprecedented.

And no one really knows what the hell is going on.

Citizens United made this corruption legal, money=speech, more money means you have a louder voice, rubber stamped by the Robert’s Court.

Let’s see: the richest people in the colonies get piss-poor settlers to fight the world’s great empire; promising slaves & Native lands enough for all white male land-owners. Then, they rob them into indentured serfdom, renting them the land they’d stolen, cleared and speculated smaller planters slaves away from them; this as capital monitized extermination & financialized human bondage. Guess there just might be SOME graft in there somewhere, but at least we’re back to NORMAL? Thank god, we’re in a DEMOCRACY!

All in the name of free expression.

For something to be genuinely free, there has to be equal access to it. People don’t all have the same amounts of money, so money doesn’t qualify as a form of “free” expression.

Money being used to gain political influence isn’t free expression; it’s political influence for sale to the highest bidder, and it’s tellingly ironic that those who celebrate unfettered capitalism refuse to acknowledge that.

Torrent of money from Wall Street gives them their outsized role in how we are governed. They basically RULE the national economic “game.”

Does this not PROVE that thie game essentially destroys any pretense of democracy on a national level?
