Mitch, this is no longer just an election year, the election has begun. What you are proposing is abhorrent, which is why no one is surprised, you hypocritical substandard attempt at a human being.

Dems talk of breaking the Filibuster and adding more SCOTUS positions (not that these aren’t good ideas) could prompt Mitch to do all of that now.

I get that the filibuster is theoretically only broken at the beginning of a session - normally.

Read a tweet this AM from dickless, er, doug collins, hateful repub in House of Reps, placing blame on RBG for , like, 30million innocent deaths from abortion. That useless prick could really use a very late post natal abortion himself. Typical heartless, soulless no good gop’er! Dearth took the wrong person last night.

Right! Fight this just like the notorious Ruth Bader Ginsburg fought for justice in an unjust legal system. Stand United against senate hypocrisy.

General Strike if the Moscow Mitch tries to force an 11:50 appointment.

Repeat after me.

(Arguably before, but certainly since Citizens United, $ is the only “speech” that the establishment wonks listen to.)

More proof of what I have posted before: IF WE PROGRESSIVES DO NOT DESTROY THE REPUBLICAN PARTY NON-VIOLENTLY …THEY WILL ABORT US ALL VIOLENTLY!

Write the senators who can block this vote. I just composed a letter to one. They must actually hear from us.

don’t see any way to stop this nomination and there’s zero chance the democratic leadership has the stomach to pack the supreme court

look forward to reading the torrent of pointless op-eds about mcconnell reversing on his “principles”

WOW, if the Dems oppose Mitch like they did earlier in the week when Mitch ‘rammed through’ three federal judge confirmations with the help of 42 democrats voting AYE … this should be a cake walk for the dems to stop in its tracks.

It is about integrity. Will the republicans show integrity and abide by their words in 2016. If they do not, every senator up for re-election that violates their integrity and word should have their integrity challenged loudly in their election and every elect here after. Vote for integrity if you have it.

It’s a forgone conclusion. Trump and McConnell will place another fascist on the court, but not until after the election. That means that the first session next year will not only see abortion outlawed at the federal level, but also marriage equality, definitely the ACA, and perhaps even the Medicare act as well.
And the only thing standing in the way will be simple democratic senate majority, a house led by Nancy Pelosi, and a President Biden who has not even mentioned the Supreme Court, abortion, or marriage equality in his limited campaign appearances.
The democrats will have to make war against the judiciary. Do we really think they have the stomach for it?

For the few “Debbie Downers” above, this is not the time to raise the white flag, it’s the time to dig in and fight like hell. As I posted in another story about this subject, it will be a fight, but we can win this. We need 4 R’s to commit to not voting to confirm, 2 have already signaled they won’t. That means 2 more, and a couple more for good measure. It shouldn’t be hard to embarrass them into not voting, many of them are in tough reelection campaigns. Call, write your Senators now.

Democratic members of the Senate: We expect you to pull-up your big boy pants and get to work NOW. Devise a plan for a long term filibuster, incase not enough R’s commit to not voting, night and day, until the new president is seated, GET IT DONE NOW. If you fail us and RBG, we will make sure you are replaced. That’s not a threat, it’s a promise.

From Neil J. Smith:

It makes small difference these days to try and make sense. Nobody listens to sense anymore. We all seem to be ensnared with gobbledygook and babble. We are a people going slowly insane. As the Greeks well noted, “Whom the Gods wish to destroy they first make mad.” The U.S., at this time in its history, fits that description nicely.

Which is the most applicable quote in the context of the latest Trump, McConnell, GOP hypocrisy and blatant attacks on our democratic processes?

“A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government.”—Henry David Thoreau

“Whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends {life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness} it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it, and to institute new government.”—Thomas Jefferson

“The tyranny of the many would be when one body takes over the rights of others, and then exercises its power to change the laws in its favor.”–Voltaire

“The Republican Party is the most dangerous organization in human history.”—Noam Chomsky

“Before mass leaders seize the power to fit reality to their lies, their propaganda is marked by its extreme contempt for facts as such, for in their opinion fact depends on the power of the man who can fabricate it.”—Hannah Arendt

“To see what is in front of one’s nose needs a constant struggle.”—George Orwell

“Women belong in all places where decisions are being made.”—Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Or maybe it is all of the above?

Few news reporters are calling McConnell a hypocrite. Why? They are mostly, from what I’ve seen, reporting this neutrally as if there is a rational balance to consider from McConnell’s 2016 obstructionist treason, to his power grabbing tyranny today.

This is tyranny folks, and two of the three short list replacements are clearly tyrants, Amul Thapar and Amy Barrett.

The TV pundits on my local San Diego ABC station are already saying the difference between 2016 and today is “apples and oranges” because Obama was a lame duck president. Whatever meaningless, trivial innocuous variance they can dig up to justify their scumbag shameless brazen hypocrisy they will dig up.
