We Must Be Brave Enough to Admit the War on Terror Simply Not Working

Jeremy Corbyn

Our whole nation has been united in shock and grief this week as a night out at a concert ended in horrific terror and the brutal slaughter of innocent people enjoying themselves. When I stood on Albert Square at the vigil in Manchester, there was a mood of unwavering defiance. The very act of thousands of people coming together sent a powerful message of solidarity and love. It was a profound human impulse to stand together, caring and strong. It was inspiring.

The purpose of the War on Terror was to ensure Permanent War.

Working Fine.

Was the bombing in Manchester abhorrent because of innocent people were murdered or because the innocent people were murdered in England?

This week it was revealed that, in an Obama era attack in Honduras, US DEA officials murdered up to 6 innocent civilians including two pregnant women and two children (Source: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dan-kovalik/honduras-civilians-dead_b_1521177.html ).

It was also revealed that, in a recent Trump era raid in Yemen, US Navy Seals sociopathically murdered 5 civilians because an elderly man went out to speak with them and others had the audacity to complain about the Seal's murder of the innocent elderly man. (Source: http://www.reprieve.org.uk/press/five-civilians-killed-yemen-raid/ ).

Finally, it was also revealed this week that, under Trump, the US military has massacred over 1000 innocent civilians. (Source: http://www.newsweek.com/trumps-war-civilian-deaths-syria-577353 )

Whether its the leadership of the Islamic State, or leaders of the US, those in power justify their killing of innocent civilians as necessary for a 'Greater Good'. Further, they put out propaganda intended to get the population to embrace, or at least become inured to, these murders. They're propaganda is nothing more that a re-working of Mark Twain's 'War Prayer'. Such murder of innocent civilians will not end until those of us opposed take action to reject their 'War Prayer'.

================== THE WAR PRAYER by Mark Twain ====================

“Lord our Father, our young patriots, idols of our hearts, go forth into battle — be Thou near them! With them — in spirit — we also go forth from the sweet peace of our beloved firesides to smite the foe. O Lord our God, help us tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with their little children to wander unfriended in the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames in summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it —

For our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimmage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet!

We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen. - Mark Twain (Source: https://warprayer.org/ )

Wishing you the best and hoping that you win the election and put peace above war.

The War on Terrir is working just fine. Maybe not so well for the embattled civilians who are trying to live in or leave the free flee zoned or other targeted areas. And they may not be working all that well for those with life problems in need of cash infusions.

But they are not who the war is for, They are indeed terrorized and kept that way to keep alive within them that the war can somehow be "won." The belief that the terrorists can be beaten so badly that they will crawl back to their bombed up homes and stop bothering us.

More weapons and boots on the ground helped out by plaines, boats, and bombs and drones isn't working because the war politicians and the armaments suppliers -- it's working for them and their fear mongering aides and propagandist cheerleaders are doing fine too.

We can tell them it's not working and they'll blame us for beinnnin sufficiently supportive and ".letting her terrorists win.."

We must learn to be brave enough to refuse to believe in their beliefs in war's necessity, but thst&s a way to get declared an enrmy and get put on one their kill lists.

Eternal occupation and war equals an eternal revenue stream for the military industrial media infotainment complex (MIMIC). It doesn't take a degree in economics to understand this concept.

A nebulous enemy like "terrorism" assures that trying to reverse MIMIC's march forward will continue to be a difficult task.

"There can be no love of country if there is neglect or disregard for its people": And THAT, in a nutshell, is it.

"Throughout the War on Drugs, personal privacy and individual liberty were steadily constricted by the need to keep us “safe” from the dangers of drug use and drug dealing, laying the legal and cultural groundwork for the much greater invasiveness of the War on Terror that would follow."

Some excellent work here by Naomi Braine

Imagine a speech such as this days after 9/11, and then commensurate actions according to its spirit and intent.

And also imagine how different things might be now as a result.

After 911, the whole world took us into its arms, to comfort or help us. Even the Taliban said they would turn bin Laden over for trial, as long as it was held in an international forum, and not in the US.
* Bush and the neocons wanted war and that was that. They got it, through lies, propaganda, and chicanery.
* Sixteen years later and we've still got war(s) with no sign of peace, but lots of profit for MIMIC.
* And now we have the Trumpire, which cares not a whit about the health or welfare of the common people, (the 99.99%) unless there is a proposal that will improve profits for the 0.01%.
* The Wehrmacht gets bigger, the wars spread, the billionaires become trillionaires, people are starved and made homeless, both here and abroad, and all is well in the Trumpire. ("Brother, can you spare a dime?")

An International Forum might have actually unearthed the Truth.

No wonder the Govt didn't take them up on it.

Sort of like the reason Nixon was allowed to resign before impeachment. Had he been impeached, all of the administration's dirty laundry would have been exposed in his trial. An impeached person is not allowed to hold a position of public trust, is subject to trial for crimes committed, and cannot be pardoned.
* So, he was allowed, or perhaps forced, to resign, then was pardoned by Ford and the laundry could stay in the basket.
* Wotta system!

A speech like Corbyn's would have never been uttered in the U.S. He is considered far too radical for most Americans and a danger to corporations everywhere. That alone makes his article a pleasure to read. However, though Corbyn is popular with young Britons and academics, the British will choose the right wing, war mongering Conservatives in the upcoming election. This is in part for the same reason Americans elect the corporate fundamentalists in every single election; the MSM has been effective enough to distract the masses from their true enemies.
I really hope the Brits can surprise again (as in Brexit) and support a progressive party for once, but all the signs seem to point to pursuing the status quo.

All those "terrorist" militias are operated by the Deep State, as nation-breaking proxy armies abroad, and manufactured bogeymen to justify ever-increasing tyranny at home.

From Wikipedia:
What is the main cause of terrorism?
People choose terrorism when they are trying to right what they perceive to be a social or political or historical wrong—when they have been stripped of their land or rights, or denied these. ... Religious: perhaps the most commonly held belief today is that terrorism is caused by religion.Apr 11, 2015

"Terrorists and their atrocious acts of cruelty and depravity will never divide us and will never prevail."
Here is the true meaning and value of compassion and nonviolence, when it helps us to see the enemy's point of view, to hear his questions, to know his assessment of ourselves. For from his view we may indeed see the basic weaknesses of our own condition, and if we are mature, may learn and grow and profit from the wisdom of the brothers who we call terrorists.

#18

That's not brave. What would be brave is to admit that the Western terrorist powers who have been bombing, invading, torturing, occupying the countries of the middle east for decades, long before 9/11, get the terrorism they deserve.

#19

Sure it is, that is why we need to ban people and build wqlls

To this very day, Mark Twain is the most highly regarded author in American (USA) literary history. Trying to outdo him, is like trying to top Chaucer, Lao Tzu, or Shakespeare.

And, not only the Middle East, Lotus - when you include most of the Asian and African nations which have been exploited also by rapacious Western colonialism over the last three hundred years.

The West has much to atone for. Fear not, however, that day is coming: when the United States of Asia and the United States of Africa join financial hands to beat the West at its own game.
