The silver spoon oligarchs are not any longer “endangering” U.S. democracy. They killed it long ago. For the past fifty years (or longer), they have merely been abusing its corpse. The legal penalties for abusing a corpse are considerably lower than the penalties for murder. The stench of moral opprobrium is greater, but the oligarchs have no shame. They gnaw the bones of the USA and grin through blood-soaked lips.

If we’re going to take them out it will have to be before they start buying Armed AI security robots as their Second Amendment ‘rights’.

Cancerous parasites! What is their purpose other than being unproductive resource sponges and private property owning clutter and blockage on society.

“Members of the Busch, Mars, Koch, and Walton families have together spent more than $120 million over the past 10 years lobbying for taxation, labor, and trade policies favorable to their interests and investments,” according to IPS.

It’s called return on investment, folks.

Ahh, so good to see the comments section is up and running again without which I for one wouldn’t be reading CD.
Yes, I learned in my political economics general education back in 1980s that as Marx had predicted the wealthy will not reinvest back into the economy, rather they hoard their wealth. He didn’t see them stashing cash in fictitious bank accounts in the Bahamas and Barbados, the Cayman Islands, the Jersey Island and Swiss banks that we know of. Since Reagan the wealthy people’s corporations have grown so huge that they are in charge of the US government. Out elected officials are mostly in their pockets and democracy exists only in name. Short of a general strikes and uprisings risking our lives there is no way to correct course under the current political atmosphere. President Biden has thrown a few bones to pacify the progressives and the youth movements but that is all he can do throw some a few bones and scraps at us. Fundamentally nothing will be changing for the better. Infarct the oligarchs want full fledged fascism and police state. They are hard at work dismantling our voting and civil rights left and right preparing the grounds for Trumps return.

It’s never too late to start in a new direction. The power is in our hands only if we the people recognize it.

America’s founding fathers had but one all encompassing goal. They wanted to establish a feudal system in the new world. The only difference being that they, and not the descendants of Europe’s land owning class, would be the lords of the manor. And by doing so, they would establish an American oligarchy. One that would endure just like the royal houses of Europe that they had managed to escape.
Nothing will fundamentally change. Hasn’t for the 500 year history of white people in America

$12 million a year is a mere pittance to this cabal of oligarchs. One can only imagine what kind of return the quid pro quo was on what they would call the cost of doing business.

They’re already adding fully equipped medical surgical rooms on to their mansions, probably staffed too. What are they expecting?

A sort of “corpirate” necrophilia.

Having more money than anyone could possibly spend in a lifetime in addition to refusing to pay just 2% to 3% more per year in taxes is a clear sign of mental illness, sociopaths and psychopaths. That on top of the fact that they want to virtually run the world in privacy and without the discomfort of accountability.

Economic oppression is a political strategy.

Die nasty…if only there really were the Tears of Lys, used in the Purple Wedding to kill off boy king Joffrey. In the real world, well, there’s pneumonic plague, making sure they have no access to antibiotics. The bite of the King Cobra and several other quite venomous snakes. The Sydney Funnel Web Spider bite. I’m sure various Indigenous tribes know plant sources of virulent poisons.
But nothing beats having to be on a ventilator for a month or so, before the covid variant scars your lungs so badly you’re done for. Which would be in the realm of the punishment fits the crime that produced such enormous wealth in the first place.

So they’re ploughing that money back into the economy

A few years ago there were some enterprising companies selling old missile silos as underground ‘homes’ for those that wanted to feel safe when we ‘zombies’ took over. Being the evil witch I am I thought that was a very good idea since a few of us above ground could slam the top down and give the narcissistic hoarding dregs the opportunity to die comfortably!

@WWSmith: No they’re not spending back into the economy, they’re hoarding it.

Can’t vote it out either. With all the money flowing between lobbyists and congress I wonder why anyone bothers to vote anymore. I stopped after Obama’s sellout on the FISA bill he promised to filibuster, voted for it and then out did Bush on spying. In 2011 he killed habeas corpus for good. Any president can have any person arrested for any or no reason, hold them indefinitely without due process. No trial. No lawyer. They cease to exist.
Obama killed two Americans without due process and Trump killed one. Wonder how many Biden will?
