Weapons for Anyone

William Hartung

It’s one of those stories of the century that somehow never gets treated that way. For an astounding 25 of the past 26 years, the United States has been theleading arms dealer on the planet, at some moments in near monopolistic fashion.

If anyone here knows how to get this article to David Hogg and the Parkland survivors, please do.

If there’s a profit to be made, this country will be the first in line, with the support of both parties, no matter how many must die, no matter the destruction and no matter how many refugees created in the process. Trump is a worthy heir to this blood-soaked legacy. How can anyone reasonably expect to enact gun control at home via politicians that support these crimes?

“Every president since Richard Nixon…”
This is not correct, this started with Johnson. As with most recent problems with our govt., and the people running it, it started following WWII, and was ramped up after Nov. 22, 1963. That’s the turning point, or more plainly put, when the blackmail started. That blackmail of our elected leaders (sic), has grown in direct correlation with wealth of the .1%. Being a military leader, Eisenhower saw it, but because of illness towards the end of his presidency could not focus enough to curtail it, and was left with only being able to warn us about it as he was leaving.

Exactly. “Trump’s Arms Sales”??? While Hurting gives lip service to the crimes of both parties, he fails to get to the core of the issue.

Both parties, at behest of their oligarch and plutocrat bosses, are i**n the business of mass murder and destruction** up to their eyeballs. There is no “debate” about that. That is one of their their central purposes and has been so since WW2 when the U.S. lit out full-tilt-boogie after the entire world to impose a free trade capitalist empire.

It’s standard practice for the Congress to add money to the President’s “requests” for hundreds of billions and also standard practice to cover up the true bloat with “supplemental” and “emergency” appropriations. To say that the Dems are now opposing this under Trump is an out-and-out lie.

This kind of gibberish from a ‘progressive’ journalist on a ‘progressive’ website demonstrates exactly why U.S. ‘progressives’ are hypocrites and political failures. Worse, their carping helps to maintain the status quo, and like the Tweeting Idiot of Orange, they have joined the ranks of Weapons of Mass Distraction. Shame.
