What ‘Abolish ICE’ Really Means

Originally published at http://www.commondreams.org/views/2019/07/31/what-abolish-ice-really-means

well those letters could also stand for— Insane Cretinous Environment------The trouble is that if ICE people feel fine torturing the immigrants---- then it’s not long before all people, including citizens can become sucked into the victim’s place. It’s almost as if a controlling government morphs into a giant amoeba that surrounds all citizens and sucks them into this nefarious body and and soon----no one and no thought is safe.
This was the plot of IRONHEEL that’s on Gutenberg which can be read for free!

" The U.S. carried out over a quarter million deportations last year. The $7 billion that funded these actions could have been used instead to resettle at least that many refugees (over 11 times what the U.S. accepted last year)"

“In FY2018, ERO removed 256,086 illegal aliens, reflecting an increase of 13% over FY2017. The majority of removals (57%) were convicted criminals. Additionally, 5,914 of the removed illegal aliens were classified as either known or suspected gang members or terrorists, which is a 9% increase over FY2017.”

My concern here is the overly biased approach to this issue. The INS had some very good guest worker programs that brought a lot of people out of poverty as well. It was still a migrant based program and if it failed in its objective it is because it didn’t have a broad enough base. It wasn’t prepared for the “war time” conditions of immigration and interned Japanese. It didn’t meet the challenge of providing safe legal immigration with an ever increasing level of illegal immigration in the millions. This created the conditions that have resulted in human trafficking and other abuses. Some immigrants are changed outrages sums in the process and the issue of human rights is never even mentioned. I’ve worked with immigrants that waited 10 years. Have family on three different continents. So yes, it does need to change.

The entire prison system has been turned to a profit center for the wealthy. It needs to be redone if it is not too late. ICE are the equivalent of brown shirts rounding up victims for the profit system. Those cages get paid big bucks by the federal government as the money goes into the pockets of people like Trump’s friend General Kelly who is a big investor. Concentration camps are set up for anyone the Trumpers dislike. Thank you for your good work on this issue. It is dangerous to do it.

Regardless of status, they’re [more law-abiding than native-born citizens] How can this be true? If they are here with out permission the they are illegal thus criminals.
