What Betsy DeVos Calls Education Transformation Is Actually Public Theft

What Betsy DeVos Calls Education Transformation Is Actually Public Theft

Jeff Bryant

Betsy DeVos wants to give your tax dollars to private schools and businesses and tell you it’s an education “transformation.”

That’s the main theme of an address she gave this week to a conference held by the organization she helped found and lead, the American Federation for Children.

Declaring “the time has expired for ‘reform,'” she called instead for a “transformation… that will open up America’s closed and antiquated education system.” Her plan also opens your wallet to new moochers of taxpayer dollars.

Active former/present BERNIECRATS: we need a new political party. Dems are sellouts.
As a former English professor, I am horrified by DeVosTrumpEtc.

“Dems are sellouts.”

That’s right perfesser, as explained in the Diane Ravitch article here today. Democrats led the charge for privatization of public schools, and sold out for corporate “campaign” cash (bribes):

It is important to recognize that the “privatization of public education” is just simply the latest example of the fact that the entire economy is built on foundations of privatization, theft, colonization.

Who first “privatized” common wealth? Who first stole something that belonged to everyone or to no-one, and called it “progress”? It’s an old story. The “enclosures” in England took the common wealth of land and “privatized” it. The original modern corporations, the British East India Company, Dutch East India Company, Hudson’s Bay Company and the like, helped “colonize” entire continents and subjugate the peoples who lived there (with the blessing of the Pope who, in the name of God, authorized “Christian” nations to do so).

Yes we must resist the privatization and looting of public education. But unless and until we overturn and replace the entire “privatized” economy that currently rules the world, then plum “profit opportunities” like public education will be endlessly assaulted by the looting class.

" Clearly taxpayers should be concerned about picking up the tab for an expense that many families seem to be able to afford in the first place. "

Why should it matter to the taxpayer where a student’s education money goes as long as the kid is using it?

Mr.Bryant seems to imply that if you’re “suburban and middle class” you better pay for your own kids education.

If the taxpayer funds little Billy $1000 to study, it should not matter whether little Billy goes to public or private school. Now if the private school makes little Billy dumber, that is the parents’ fault for sending him there.

Betsy DeVos is a preventable accident happening to our public school system.
Get her out of the Dept of Education.

Betsy is really hoping for a transformation of her bank account.
