“He” supposedly said a lot of things. Much of it nonsense. Much more not very nice. Let’s leave the mythology out of the mix. One of my “favorites” remains as Matthew 10:34-36:

Jesus says that he has come to destroy families by making family members hate each other. He has “come not to send peace, but a sword.”

Camillo, I’m glad you heard from the Christ. Glad he got his two cents in. I talk to his father. Yep; god calls me everyday on my cell to check in, see how things are going, talk over shit. Lately, the calls are more urgent. The other day he called, anguished, weeping, “Sandra, what is going on in your country? What have I wrought?” I said,”Well, you reap what you sow.”

What Would Jesus Dis?

If I could give this 10 stars, I would. Jesus absolutely was an activist who shook up the social structure.

Thanks for the reminder.

Hi unlikelysource:

He spoke to the police and they said that Jesus said, ," I will make you bashers of men!"

To the Christian god from my beloved brother in the American Indian Movement:

John Trudell - Presente! (From Tribal Voice - ttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5szsygmZmY&list=RD_ToI0bG2jsE&index=18)

To God,
we hope you don’t mind,
but we would like to talk to you.

There are some things we need to straighten out.
It’s about these Christians.
They claim to be from your nation.
you should see the things they do.
Blaming it on you.
Manifest destiny,
maximized profit,
raping the Earth,
taking more they need,
in all the forms of the greed.
We ask them, “Why?”
They say, “It’s God’s will”.

Damn, God.
They make it so hard.
Remember Jesus?
Would you send him back to them.
Tell them not to kill him.
Rather, they should listen.
Stop abusing His name
and yours.
We do not mean to be disrespectful,
but you know how it is.
Our people have their own ways.
We never even heard of you until not long ago.
Your representatives spoke magnificent things of you.
which we were willing to believe.
But from the way they acted,
we know you and we,
were being deceived.

We do not mean you or your Christian children any bad.
But you all came to take all we had.
We have not seen you.
But we have heard so much.
It is time for you to decide what life is worth.
We already remember,
but maybe you forgot.

Look at us.
Look at us, we are of earth and water.
Look at them,it is the same.

Look at us, we are suffering all these years.
Look at them, they are connected.

Look at us we, are in pain.
Look at them, surprised at our anger.

Look at us we, are struggling to survive.
Look at them, expecting sorrow be benign.

Look at us, we are the ones called pagan.
Look at them, on their arrival.

Look at us, we are called subversive.
Look at them, descending from name-callers.

Look at us, we wept sadly in the long dark.
Look at them, hiding in techno-logic light.

Look at us, we bury the generations.
Look at them, inventing the body count.

Look at us, we are older than America.
Look at them, chasing a fountain of youth.

Look at us, we are embracing Earth.
Look at them, clutching to day.

Look at us, we are living in the generations.
Look at them, existing in jobs and debt.

Look at us, we have escaped many times.
Look at them, they cannot remember.

Look at us we, are healing.
Look at them, their medicine is patented.

Look at us, we are trying.
Look at them, what are they doing?

Look at us, we are Children of Earth.
Look at them, WHO ARE THEY!?

Sure, let’s base society on the memes of an imaginary person who was also the imaginary sky daddy and also a supernatural spirit. The child supposedly conceived from the rape of a delusional child bride by gawd while angels pinned her to the ground. Who needs logic and reason when we can base society on racist, bigoted, incestuous, misogynous, murderous, holy books?

I display the times.
I appeal to the age.
The public is never advantaged.
Certainly, mankind has not sacrificed its rights.
If mankind dared but to listen to the voice of its heart, changing suddenly the language,
It would say to us, as it would to the animals of the woods,
Nature created neither servant nor master.
I seek neither to rule nor to serve.
And its hands would weave the entrails of the priest
For the lack of a cord with which to strangle kings.

18th century French atheist Denis Diderot

Humans will wake from their sleep ,to realise make real that which is truth …
We are all divine ,there’s no separation between humans and everything seen and unseen.

This is what happens to all maturing species, and when this time comes we will look after our planet and each other .

What a beautiful sentiment…it calmed my spirit~~thank you

“Christianity is not a tool to be exploited for political purposes or personal gain.”
You mean like the inquisition or crusades? Or Jim Baker, Joel Osreen, Ted Haggard, Kenneth Max Copeland, Pat Robertson, Joyce Meyer, T.D. Jakes, Franklin Graham, Rick Warren or Creflo Dollar? I can’t wait for the day when humans evolve beyond their primitive, man-made deity beliefs and figure out you can be a good person all on your own without threats of eternal suffering from a loving god for not believing.

Thanks that was nice of you to say that.

Steve, that’s wonderful. So many thanks for posting it! I’ll try to share it.

“Jesus was not content to derive his ethics from the scriptures of his upbringing. He explicitly departed from them. Since a principal thesis of this chapter is that we do not, and should not, derive our morals from scripture, Jesus has to be honoured as a model for that very thesis.” ― RICHARD DAWKINS, The God Delusion

Using the holey fable as a guide for morality or how to live your life results in permanent insanity. — Vlad

The roaming Charges must be astronomical .

That’s on him😇

Let me also say, Stephen, that I made that joke up about six years ago and thought it was funny and to everyone I’ve told it to I get a blank face like, “What?” I don’t know if they can’t visualize the word wrought or what but the first person to laugh out loud was a preacher. And, I went back once to see if anyone appreciated the joke (I mean when else would I have a chance to use it on Common Dreams exact at that very moment) and I saw one like so thanks for getting it! Laughing is what it’s all about. More laughter less arguing!
