The Tao te Ching warns of the failure of success

Tao Te Ching – Verse 13

Success is as dangerous as failure.
Hope is as hollow as fear.

What does it mean that success is as dangerous as failure?
Whether you go up the ladder or down it,
your position is shaky.
When you stand with your two feet on the ground,
you will always keep your balance. What does it mean that hope is as hollow as fear?
Hope and fear are both phantoms
that arise from thinking of the self.
When we don’t see the self as self,
what do we have to fear?

See the world as your self.
Have faith in the way things are.
Love the world as your self;
then you can care for all things.

(translation by Stephen Mitchell, 1995)

From the article:

“And it may be too much to hope that Bowman’s win will finally shatter the myth of AIPAC’s invincibility.”

“Every victory
Gonna bring another
Carry it on,
Carry it on.”

Rejoice, rejoice, we have no choice,
but to carry on.
Love is with us,
love is with us all. CSNY

Jamaal Bowman shows us that compassion can override warring injustice.

When I read the Tao - I fear for this nation - The United States of America - because our nation and its people seem so far away from the Tao. If ever there was a time for massive humility - it is now.

This really is a breath of fresh air. Hopefully the walls are starting to fall along with the confederate memorial statues. Change is in the air. The forces of regression are also building as they did against the Occupy Movement but this seems bigger and stronger. The democratic party needs to be reformed and the republican party needs to be given a message that its days of power are almost over. That message can come this November.

All the folks who have had their ethical shoulders to wheel, we need you for a few years in service locally, state, nationally. If ever there was a time, this is it. An ethical life is some of the best training for societal service in governance.

Thank you Jamaal Bowman. May your heart be strong, your mind clear and may you have all of the support necessary to inspire others, form new coalitions and bring the joy of inclusion, balance, health and strength irresistible to an entire generation of and for regeneration of the planet and human heart.

I love it too - some of the best that never fails and every culture on the planet contributes. We need each other as never before.

The over half century plan by Zionist extremist racism and supremacist beliefs, to take by force the land of Palestine from the indigenous inhabitants is reaching its odious fruition under the trump regime.

trumps inherent racism is a great ally to the Israeli-Zionist model of slow ethnic cleansing and illegal confiscations-colonization of the Occupied Territories; a crime against humanity, International Law, the UN Charter and common decency - not so common to the Israeli racist model of violence and ethnic cleansing. That pre-meditated plan to provoke the 1967 Six Day War and take control of Palestine by force and illegally colonize the territory via “settlements” that the world tolerated or even supported by their silence.

The deadly Israeli attack on the USS Liberty was a war crime that has been covered-up by US traitor sycophants, and Israel, ever since! NEVER FORGET!

That plan was articulated by Israeli leaders who openly said they would “put facts on the ground that will be hard to change” - and the world watched as they carried-out their ethnic cleansing, settlement construction, Apartheid Wall, theft of natural resources, agricultural land, and water, as well as premeditated destruction of Palestinian olive groves, the symbol of Palestinian culture and central to their society - a genocidal destruction based on racism.

To allow that plan and racism to become a fait accompli makes a mockery of what the world fought and countless died-for, to defeat nazi-fascism in WWII. - an affront to the entire world by Israeli supremacist beliefs and contempt for the world community, with the entire Palestinian people paying the price for racism - a new Nakba!

The acceptance of this “annexation” is another crime by Israel that must not be tolerated!

BDS - Boycott, Divest, Sanction Israel! Zionism IS Racism!

We black US citizens have more in common with our brothers and citizens in Palestine than many of us know. In 2016 Amnesty International reported on the US police/Israeli police training connection. That knee on the neck is just one of the Israeli tactics learned by police in 31 states since 9/11. It"a a symbiotic relationship: we arm the Israelis to treat Palestinians inhumanely and they train our police to do the same with us.

reading way too much into it, foreign policy means kuttle in this mostly poor district and in a majority-minority district an old white guy would inevitably have a problem against a vigorous younger minority candidate. And AIPAC had already seen defeat in a far more significant way when they (deservedly) lost the battle in Cingress to have the US reject the Iran nuclear deal.
I also caution against too much “solidarity” with Palestinians whose strategy of rejecting all compromises in hopes that somehow all the Jews in the region will disappear has not only been a failure, it has only made things worse for them. And their society shows too much corruption and too much hostility to a free press, to rights for women, gays, religious minorities, to democracy. They desperately need younger, more realistic, honest, and progressive leadership

Ah hem, that is like saying homeless people would have greater acceptance in a community if they had better hygiene and sanitation and weren’t sick all the time and brutalized by the environment they live in.

May this be a harbinger of sanity and solidarity.

“This system is killing all of us”-----Jamaal Bowman------so refreshing to hear these new voices-----

Actually a Gil ‘Jellyroll’ Turner song but right on point.
