What Makes Us Human

In the midst of the world's unparalleled refugee crisis comes this month's launch of HUMAN by filmmaker Yann Arthus-Bertrand, a documentary exploring our humanity - both its darkness and light - and our relation to the earth. After three years of collecting stories from 2,000 people in 60 countries, Arthus-Bertrand offers extraordinary portraits, tales of life and death and beauty, and aerial imagery of a world that, he insists, we must all learn to share.

It is tragic that in the 'modern' world the legacy of using 'power' is an overwhelming compounding of impoverishment in every way - primarily because the concepts in the dominant legacy are themselves so impoverished by intrinsic, ever increasing narrowness.

Reminiscent of the artistic legacy of Koyaanisqatsi, an elegance of filming and this time people speak from these illuminated spaces, light shining through the cracks so long closed off. The shell is fractured from its own moribund brittleness - celebrate life.
