The details of FCC Chairman Ajit Pai’s plan to destroy Net Neutrality are out. And they’re even worse than expected.
The catastrophic consequences to voices on the left cannot be exaggerated. Verizon owns the entire physical communications infrastructure where I live. They can outright block Commondreams, the WSWS, Znet, or any other website whose opinions they don’t like, and Verizon’s actions will be protected, believe it or not, by the First Amendment!
We need re-establish our old lines of communications - phone and e-mail trees which cannot be distinguished from casual non-organized e-mail use, and be prepared for mass direct action against Verizon and Comcast. And no, peaceful polite protest is not going to be enough.
Fight? We all know they’re going to do what they want! They don’t care what the public says.
Put a know-it-all little shithead in charge of something as important as net neutrality and you end up with this kind of disaster. Obviously, he has big blinders on and doesn’t comprehend the impact of his imbecilic decisions. But he’ll blow off the concerns of people who know better because he’s one of the “chosen golden boys” of the Trump cluster-F group. With Trump, it’s SNAFU all the time.
Recall that during the 2016 election cycle most CD posters recognized that Trump was against Obama getting credit for TPP and other regulatory capture disguised as “trade deals”, but Trump was not opposed to much of the policy included therein.
Since January Trump has proceeded to enable and implement many TPP components through decriminalization (euphemism is “deregulation” and other back door means. Ending net neutrality is the latest example of Trump implementing TPP piecemeal through the back door.
You’re right. I’m just being cynical.
Considering how consolidated traditional media has become Net Neutrality is essential if we want to retain a slight semblance of democracy.

The bull has come to the china shop and promises only to leave a few droppings.
" We all know they’re going to do what they want!"
I wish you were wrong, but alas, soooooo true!
Just the same, even though the public is like David vs. Goliath don’t forget who won!
Trying to retain the “hope,” Shantiananda.
Time for congress to step up and catch up with the rest of the developed world by establishing a free nationwide, wireless broadband system accessible by all Americans.
