In nominating Neil Gorsuch to the supreme court, Donald Trump just gave Senate Republicans exactly what they’ve long hoped for in filling Antonin Scalia’s vacant seat – and Democrats should do everything in their power to stop it.
The GOP refusing to vote on the Merrick Garland confirmation unequivocally verified that the GOP made "it all about politics", and until they decide to change that by confirming Garland, it shall remain so irrespective of what we want to happen.
Alternative facts (BS) about SCOTUS confirmations being about jurisprudence and clinical or objective analysis would be laughable if the results weren't going to be so tragic.
Schumer and the Dems would be wise to keep there powder dry on this one. By every measure save political philospy, Gorsuch is eminently qualified. The next Trump nomination is very likely to be a Neanderthal. The Supreme Court will then surely be lost for a generation or two if the Neanderthal and subsequent Trump nominations are seated based upon a "simple" majority of the Senate.
