Why I’m Joining Greenpeace’s Ffracking Protest Outside Westminster Today

Tina Rothery

As you read this, I’m stood outside Westminster Palace in London – the home of Parliament and the birthplace of democracy in the UK. In the early hours of this morning, I arrived with a team of Greenpeace volunteers. And as the sun slowly appeared on this grey February day, we turned a corner of Parliament Square into a small but life-like industrial site.

A marvelous means of attaining knowledge is Google Map, so I went to Blackpool, a very inviting place, with a major Amusement Park and beach. It reminded me of Brighton from reading Graham Greene's thriller, Brighton Rock, a candy, made famous there. Blackpool is at the other end of the UK from Brighton but very similiar from my very superficial observations. Both seem to be inviting places to visit with a geography to be saved from the frackers. Good luck to Tina and her friends of the earth.
