With Billions for Back-Door Slush Fund, Military Dodges Austerity in House Budget

Sarah Lazare, staff writer

The U.S. House of Representatives on Friday narrowly passed a $612 billion war spending bill, relying on a back-door slush fund to dodge the austerity cuts that are gutting domestic programs from education to health care.

The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) passed 269 to 151, largely along party lines. The roll call can be viewed here.

You know, I wouldn't mind this so much if I thought that a sizeable chunk of this money would be spent on the men and woman who fought the useless wars,

We will never know the point at which all of the excessive military spending tipped the balance and deprived kids of an adequate education. What we can know is it has already happened.

These people are already preparing for their next disasterous intervention in the affairs of another country. Replace Saddam Hussein with sectarian fanatics who have created Isis. Overthrow the dictator in Libya who was cooperating with them putting that country in complete turmoil dominated by religious fanatics. Encourage a civil war in Syria which has literally destroyed that country and finally supported a coup d'etat in the Ukraine with the idea of pushing Russia into a corner right on its doorstep. Now they are taking a very beligerant posture towards China setting the stage for their next glorious war.

"Whatever our troops need to get the job done, they should get it, and the House has acted to provide just that," said John Boehner (R-Ohio).

Please sir, what jobs are those?

#6

'useless' and criminally justified- through fraud (for profit) wars of terror and aggression!

Perhaps there should be a democratically chosen representative body drawn from the troops; a legislative body that excludes cowards like John Boehner (R-Ohio) and other sundry generals, admirals and spies who attack small countries and destroy democracies for fun and perversion.

John Boehner translation.

Whatever our war profiteers need to make their egregious profits, we need to get the job done and as you can see the House is so corrupt it has acted to provide that.

Amerika is in the war business and what a racket! Amerika is a military dictatorship, that is a Frankenstein monster.

OCO and TPP. Fascist undermining of people representative government. The former unaccountable perpetual war. The latter absolute corporate control of law and finance. TPP allows corporations to block congress from enacting taxes. Like wall street transaction taxes and taxes on offshore corporations. The corporations will determine the legal definition of what and offshore corporation is. We are screwed. The Dictatorship Of The Corportariat is now the supreme leader. Law of by and for the corporations.
