With ICE Raids Expected to Begin Sunday, Message From AOC, Bernie Sanders, and Others is Clear: 'Know Your Rights'

Originally published at http://www.commondreams.org/news/2019/07/13/ice-raids-expected-begin-sunday-message-aoc-bernie-sanders-and-others-clear-know

Sunday–don’t these “christian” religionists take a break on this day? But this fits with all their hypocrisy. Moral monsters everyone of them. Trump certainly has raised the fecal matter in the US American collective consciousness but his can serve to disgust people enough to raise their conscience.

Ask the 70,000 Japanese American citizens who were thrown into internment camps in 1942 about their rights. The truth is you have rights until the government decides you don’t. have rights.
The Patriot Act started the process of whittling away American rights. Only one senator, Russ Feingold, voted against the bill. The fact he is no longer in office shows the intelligence of the American voter.

Really just a couple of laws in the good old U.S. of A : You have the right to do what we tell you and are also free to do what we tell you. All other laws are just corollaries.

This is just America’s Gestapo hard at work. Probably even worse than Germanys during the early '40s.

What rights? Americans have rights, lets see:

Amendment #1: free, speech, free press, protest, religious freedom
Okay - protest, yes, but wear body armor and a gas mask, and prepare to be locked up too.
speech - I have to admit its been upheld pretty well
Religion - yes, as long as it’s Christian
Free press - yes free to lie, free to evade the truth, free to deceive, free to decide what candidate gets coverage and which doesn’t, free to obfuscate the reasons for war, not free to tell about high treason at the highest levels of government.

Amendment #2: right to bear arms, yes as long as you are willing to forgo your fourth amendment rights, and they cannot be “arms”, broadly speaking.

Amendment #4:right to be secure in your houses - yes as long as you don’t mind the government watching you in all your communications, what you read, what you purchase, who you communicate with, and monitoring all your movements.

Amendment #5: nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; Long time since this was remotely adhered to

Amendment #6: In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial. There are rarely trials, over 90% are plea bargained without a trial, and people are being imprisoned without even being charged much less a trial, little 4 year old children,
if there is a trial, it can be after years of prison, not speedy.

Amendment #7: In suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved - uh yeah this would include pretty much every court appearance including traffic tickets.

Amendment #8: Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted. - being knifed and raped is not cruel? What about spending 20 years in prison for having Marijuana?

Lets face it, Americans only have whatever rights the government chooses to allow them to have at any given time, or not to have, as the case may be.

There are by some estimates, approximately 500,000 to 600,000 undocumented white people in the US. Just asking, if true, why are they never mentioned?

My attitude is: If you don’t have a warrant, and proceed to break into my abode, you are going to get shot.

Sounds like a constitutional crisis to me. Going to need a large coalition to proceed though.

“War on immigrants?” lol that’s rich. I’m pretty certain they are only targeting ILLEGALS who have broken the law, and should not be here. I think actual IMMIGRANTS appreciate the fact that them going through the process and taking the time to do it LEGALLY to become CITIZENS which by definition makes them “Migrants” and more than welcome by Trump and the vast majority of Americans. Pretending like an “illegal” is a “migrant” is a straight up lie  and that’s how everybody knows Trump is right, and you’re full of crap.

Curious how detaining valid citizens compares to detaining/deporting non citizens who made the choice of illegally trying to enter a country? lol most country’s shoot you on sight for that.

“detaining/deporting non citizens who made the choice of illegally trying to enter a country? lol most country’s shoot you on sight for that”

If other countries are unjust and inhumane, it comes as no surprise that you would follow their lead - in other words being basically inclined to follow the worst worst nations on Earth, rather than setting a good example in this one.

In this case its placing value on human life in general that is at issue, not like the NAZI, who feel entitled to slaughter Jews for whatever whimsical reason they choose. You apparently are in full agreement - imprisoning 4 year old children away from their families for the crime of escaping in desperation from the barbaric country whose once-stable government your tax dollars paid to overthrow.

Why don’t you take a few minutes and tell us all a little bit about yourself.

Most of our commenters here have a grasp of concepts like Peace, Love, and Compassion.

It’s only occasionally that we get someone such as yourself that oozes hate and violence and uses “the law” as a justification for it.

Please, if you’re serious about contributing to the conversation here at Common Dreams, take a few minutes and tell us about you, and what compelled you to join our little group.
