With Islamophobia on Rise, Right-Wing Militias Threaten Communities in Kansas, Georgia

Nika Knight, staff writer

Two separate armed right-wing militias have threatened violence against Muslims in small towns in Georgia and Kansas, respectively, as xenophobic rhetoric fuels Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's campaign.

Our perpetual war economy is dependent on Americans hating all "others".

The Right (Evangelicals, Republicans) dislike Hillary because she supports immigration, a woman's right to chose, GBLTQ rights, a more sane gun policy, some regulations on Capitalism, and that she's a liar.

Progressives dislike Hillary because she's a neoliberal, a free-trader, a warmonger, and a liar.

The Left dislikes Hillary because she's a tool of the oligarchy, a thief and a liar.

Right-wing militias hate everything and everybody who disagrees with them. Trump is a suitable substitute for Hitler for them.

With the threat of terrorism from jihadists raising such concern in the US right wing terrorism has been almost forgotten but it still remains a threat and with anti-Muslim rhetoric of Trump we should expect this threat to grow. There are many people who still believe the United States as a country for white Christians and especially for Protestants, and many of these people reject the role the federal government to make this a country for all races and religions. Lots of the these people seem to have concluded that only solution remaining is terrorism and violent revolution.

#7

This article does its part in the anti-Trump campaign, but we should remember that Obama has had a huge role in cultivating this country's anti-Muslim bigotry. Odd that he is, in this way, associated with these groups that have grown out of America's first terrorist organization, the KKK.

#8

Trump knows he has lost the election so now Trump is preparing his acolytes for his losing to Hillary by stating the upcoming election is " rigged". All elections for POTUS are " rigged"! Trump is correct because HRC was selected for POTUS a long time ago!

#10

True. Like any business that cannot survive without a demand for its products; the war business is subject to the same economic law, only the demand for the war profiteers armaments, is enemies!

#11

tell me again - just who are the terrorists in this country? let alone the terrorism that black people lived thru in the south under Jim Crow laws , lynching and still do with our latest version of lynching, police terrorism. ugly wherever you choose to gaze.

#12

Yes, or the military police armed to the teeth threatening and arresting peaceful citizens protecting our environment in North Dakota. Or arresting the journalists who film the assault of attack dogs on them. Or handing felony charge to the journalist that filmed protesters shutting off the tar sands valves. Lots of terrorism to go around.

#13

I'm so cynical at this point that I don't even believe these articles. Just read a wikileaks email this morning where HRC campaign was going to fake an extremely sexist Trump ad looking for 'hot' women to work at one of his hotels. Just to smear him. They're really ramping up the anti-Trump stuff. So who knows what to believe anymore???

Even poor powerless morons like these realize what Mao said, "political power comes from the barrel of a gun". Isn't it time intelligent, peace loving liberals also come to that realization?

In a society with little wealth inequality, there is little use for guns to protect us from our wealthier neighbors.

#15

Home grown terrorism and radicalization, but who cares? These are good Christian terrorists!

#18

You are spot on. Who is telling the truth and who not? Trust your own instincts, get information from as many sources as possible (also from abroad), and then come to your own conclusions. Everybody is lying or twisting truths (politicians in particular) to achieve what they want.

Roger Ailes has created this monster -- Trump is boosting it. Our corporate oligarchy is quick to jail progressives and truth tellers but turns a blind eye to armed right-wing fanatics because they do not threaten corporate rule. As the economy continues its downward spiral driven by corruption and climate we will see this nightmare grow. We must demand a crackdown on militias, hate groups (real ones) and right-wing hyper-nationalists. We must demand serious gun control that treats bullets like narcotics. Bigoted acts, including public speech, should be treated as violent felonies with long prison sentences.

Roger Ailes and Trump go waaaaay back. Ailes was fired by FOX and the Murdoch' s for talking Trump into and then backing his run for the presidency. It wouldn't be surprising if Ailes and Trump shared some of the same female companionship. Perhaps at the same time.
Look for a Trump/Ailes venture into television co-ownership after the election. To compete directly with FOX for the lunatic right wing vote.

Would this have happened if the Muslims have been armed?

Don't think of it as gun control', think of it asvictim disarmament'. If we make enough laws, we can all be criminals.

The possession of arms by the people is the ultimate warrant that government governs only with the consent of the governed.

-- Jeff Snyder

As the Founding Fathers knew well, a government that does not trust its honest, law-abiding, taxpaying citizens with the means of self-defense is not itself worthy of trust. Laws disarming honest citizens proclaim that the government is the master, not the servant, of the people.

-- Jeff Snyder

Probably fewer than 2% of handguns and well under 1% of all guns will ever be involved in a violent crime. Thus, the problem of criminal gun violence is concentrated within a very small subset of gun owners, indicating that gun control aimed at the general population faces a serious needle-in-the-haystack problem.

-- Gary Kleck, "Point Blank: Handgun Violence In America"

When only cops have guns, it's called a "police state".

-- Claire Wolfe, "101 Things To Do Until The Revolution"

Americans have the right and advantage of being armed - unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms.

-- James Madison, The Federalist Papers

"The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed."

-- Alexander Hamilton, The Federalist Papers at 184-188

"Among the many misdeeds of British rule in India, history will look upon the Act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest."

-- Mohandas Gandhi, An Autobiography, pg 446

The people of the various provinces are strictly forbidden to have in their possession any swords, short swords, bows, spears, firearms, or other types of arms. The possession of unnecessary implements makes difficult the collection of taxes and dues and tends to foment uprisings.

-- Toyotomi Hideyoshi, dictator of Japan, August 1588

"One of the ordinary modes, by which tyrants accomplish their purposes without resistance, is, by disarming the people, and making it an offense to keep arms."

-- Constitutional scholar and Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story, 1840

"The bearing of arms is the essential medium through which the individual asserts both his social power and his participation in politics as a responsible moral being..."

-- J.G.A. Pocock, describing the beliefs of the founders of the U.S.

Men trained in arms from their infancy, and animated by the love of liberty, will afford neither a cheap or easy conquest.

-- From the Declaration of the Continental Congress, July 1775.

OK folks.....this is what Trump represents and what we will be seeing more and more of if he is elected. THESE actions will be the new norm. Now I know many of you on the CD forums here have stated...but, Hillary. And I will say emphatically that I am no fan of hers (I volunteered and donated to Bernie's primary campaign from the very beginning) and up till this very day I was going to vote for Jill Stein. But to give legitimacy to all his far right wing hateful and bigoted rhetoric is something this country can not bear. We can survive a Hillary presidency, maybe even abate some of her worst tendencies (we can only hope). But we cannot survive a Trump presidency. THIS is what is on the line. THIS is what we should be fighting against RIGHT NOW. Hold your nose, close your eyes, go and vomit in the bathroom once you've done it, but vote for Hillary. Keep this right wing misogynistic, bigoted, racist, egotistical, sociopath out of the White House. Then fight from day one, and I mean the day after the election, to keep the b***h in line, and I mean fight like there is no tomorrow. Because against her policies we could actually win, in a race war everybody loses.

Vote for Jill Stein.

Other video footage posted to a local Facebook group called "Stop the Mosque" reportedly showed armed and masked men detonating explosives and shooting guns in the woods.

County officials have temporarily banned construction of any mosque or church in response to the threats, and the local sheriff told the Guardian that he is investigating the group.

There you have it... direct action WORKS! They've stopped the mosque. If it's a pipeline one's trying to stop it's a different story. I suspect if a Facebook group called "Stop the Pipeline" posted videos of "armed and masked men detonating explosives and shooting guns in the woods," they would all be rounded up and jailed long before you'd see an article about it here.
